Hi All,

I have since last week experienced a dramatic drop in Telkoms 'Super Fast' Fixed LTE speed, i barely get 1 mbs. Please see attached screenshot .

I also need to add, that Telkom disconnected the adsl line service which meant i had to go for a fixed LTE package as there is no Fibre in my area. Ever since i got a Telkom Fixed LTE deal through Afrihost the speed has never been consistent with an unstable connection that is so poor i cant even stream Showmax.

The beauty of all this is that I now pay double what i did for an adsl line with a shockingly poor quality connection.

I was hoping someone can assist me with some advice on what to do now, as I am quite simply done with Telkom who takes 30 years to respond to anything.

Thanks,
Reagz

I'm also having issues since last night. I usually get about 50mbps down, 20mbps up (fixed LTE, capped option), but last night the downstream was barely 1mbps.

Mine has been pathetic for the past three/four days.

I am with Webafrica.

Their customer service is abysmal. I wrote an entire essay document stating the obvious:

No, no new device has been connected, no congestion on my side. Nothing running in the background. I sent tracerts, pings to numerous sites, local and international.

I have heard nothing.

My Adsl is also off now. There is no way I'm paying R850 for up to 10Mb. They can go fly a kite. They will have to increase the speed and lower the price.

I have also noticed that the 192.168.8.1 page sometimes doesn't load properly gui comes up all scrambled, and that I get ERR_CONNECTION_RESET on chrome just trying to log into the dashboard.

Will the happen if there is no throughout on the router side?

Weird that it's happening when trying to login to the router itself.

My Telkom fixed LTE is also rediculously slow. Can barely web browse. Downloading from Steam etc seems to start very slowly but then pick up to about 10mbs. Not very happy with speed lately. I hope the situation resolves.

If the 192 address doesnt load, its a router issue that should be fixed with a reboot. If not, router might be fault

But it isn't.

I have reset this one, as well as use the sim in 2 others.

It's bloody strange.

My MTN cell sim gets 5mbps indoors now, and outside it is 60mbps. Issue is, is that we have not placed any new devices in the home. I have turned off all electronics and still the same.

I have walked around the house and the same issue. I am scratching my head right now as nothing has changed, yet we have interference. Yet somehow the router also shows full reception.

I connected the router with an extension cable outside now, and it gets 18mbps on Telkom, which is what we normally got inside. Only figured to do this now.

Just cannot for the life of me target what is the issue.

Tested mine again now, 3mbps down, 3mbps up. Something definitely still broken.

I've also been getting sub 1mbps using Telkom LTE, especially during peak times on weekends. My contract with them allows for max 10mbps, speeds which I see from time to time. I ordered an Afrihost Pure LTE (MTN) sim to test, and although it seems slightly more reliable during peak times, I'm also only getting max 8-10mbps up/down. Looking at the speed test behaviour it seems I'm being throttled to 10mbps. Tower congestion maybe?

Signal quality on my B612 is great! (RSRQ: -5dBm, RSRP: -58dB, SINR: 18dB)

Tonight I’m seeing these speeds on Afrihost Pure LTE (MTN). Not sure what changed, but if these are the speeds I can expect I’m cancelling my Telkom subscription.

Also one thing most people don't know is with all the LTE bands Telkom is using and the configuration they use you have to play around with the Bsnd settings to get the best speeds.

Just setting a router on 4G ONLY mode is not always the best setting.
