Telkom fixed lte speed has dropped dramatically

Also one thing most people don't know is with all the LTE bands Telkom is using and the configuration they use you have to play around with the Bsnd settings to get the best speeds.

Just setting a router on 4G ONLY mode is not always the best setting.

If you are using a Telkom B525 or B618 then those settings are available under the network settings option.

If you aren't using their router but a Huawei router you can play with a Huawei band tool. There are 3 around here. The Toolbox, The .bat files tool and then @ProAsm made a very nice simple windows tool that works well too.

B535. I'll play around and see. Daytime I get 20Mbps max. Night 60Mbps.

I have the B618, but not the Telkom one. Only band I get any luck on is 1800Mhz. But it's been like that forever, and my speeds have always been great. It's just the last week that it went to hell. Upstream can reach 17mbps (which is mostly normal for me) but has constant drops. Dropped frames on streaming, which never happened before.

Downstream used to max out at around 68mbps for me, now I can't reach 10.

Personally I always use unrestricted. If you play xbox or ps4 the party chat function doesn't work on the normal internet apn. Torrents are also much slower because of the NAT type when using the internet apn

LOL, gone are the days here of hi speed 2300 mhz LTE-A
My B525 is now locked on 1800 mhz and hardly ever drops below 18 mbps
My 2300 mhz never goes above 6 mbps
Also use unrestricted.

Indeed, I'm also on 1800MHz but getting pretty crappy results. It seems to mostly be for international traffic. According to a tech at Telkom, there's another undersea cable failure?

Below is a current speedtest on 1800MHz but I'm finding overnight / early hours my d/load goes down to around 15Mbps (it's variable though, as sometimes speeds-up again), and ping as much as 36ms recently. Would've thought d/load speeds & ping would be less during the day & consistently higher at night / early morning.

Ping used to be around 24ms when I first got the service, so presume greater usage of the towers, but don't understand why the consistent recent increase in ping ?

Hope it doesn't get worse ....
