Telkom halts ADSL KPI updates

Ummm is that not in breach of the ADSL regulations that Incompetent Communications Authority of South Africa published awhile ago?

The problem is ICASA. They are a p!$$ poor regulator!

They couldn't regulate their way out of a paper bag even if they drank a whole bottle of Movicol.

The performance figures for Jul - Sept vs Oct - Dec would be very interesting to say the least.

The Incompetent Communications Authority of South Africa should definitely get their act together and start fining Telkom.

There is more chance of the world ending in 4 days than of that happening!

Maybe first they should fine the ISPs that have never been in compliance (IS, Vodacom, MTN, Neotel, Cell C, Vox etc.).

None of the other ISP's were releasing their KPI's and those who were found it to be pointless as there was no regulations around how they were captured, which allowed for some real obvious artificial and manipulated results.

Until the regulator releases strict and clear methods to capture the data and until the regulator forces ALL ISP's to capture the data, I dont think it is fair to expect Telkom to care much.

ag only Telkom and MWeb have ever complied with the KPI updates and Telkom's service as an ISP for ADSL is damn good at the moment, the problem being Telkom as a dominant network rather than an inferior service provider

My guess though is that Telkom took the decision to abandon KPI updates as part of the decision to move over to soft caps because some of the indicators which the unused regulations demand will be affected - contention ratios for example. As far as I am concerned Telkom needs to simply make sure that the 20:1 ratio is maintained for their in cap players and can drop for soft capped customers - which I suspect is their plan.
