Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Pretty poor streaming last night; it makes no sense to me considering nzb is still flying.

NZBs were slow last night. Youtube was fine. Torrents were as usual non-existant. All this at 02:00. Going to Cape Town for holiday on Friday. When I get back on the 17th, I am cancelling.
 
I don't see a cheaper option at the moment.
The only option seems to be to take a block account from Afrihost for streaming when required.
Everything else I'm just downloading via sickbeard & nzb now.

That's the thing. TIs pricing is great. But if another isp can offer a stable constant connection then I reckon it's worth a could 100 bucks more.

probably not a cheaper option, but may just give the afrihost 1MB business uncapped account a try.

The price to performance ratio is better on Afrihost as far as I can tell, however it is definitely the cheapest (or for me at least seeing as I'm on a contract). It's about R400 cheaper than anything else INCLUDING the 2 lines and "free" minutes. Can't really complain about pricing in comparison to South Africa's other ISPs. The performance, on the other hand, is quite shoddy and the customer service is too. So if you have a couple hundred bucks to give, I'd say change ISP.

Lo, behold the amount of ****s Telkom does not give that you were waiting on the phone for an hour today for absolutely no-one to pick up your call. If I ever have the pleasure to meet Sipho Maseko in person I would be very tempted to give that moron a piece of my mind.
 
I can't update my iOS apps. If I switch to 3g they update.
Dont know if iTunes is being shaped. I get 20k/s on 4mbps line.
Everything else is perfect

Tried now. I think they are being shaped. Even 5MB updates take ages.

Seems like rush hour is firmly in effect again. These days between 5pm and 7pm speeds are pathetic.

Yep can agree with you there up until 5pm my connection was fine now its slow again. I have to wait till 10pm before speeds come right.

He last logged on today. As usual, he hasn't said anything, just like everyone else at Telkom. Doesn't even reply to PMs. I don't think he's paid to give a damn anymore.

He's not an official rep so he's probably been restricted in what he can post on social media platforms.

I know, but he can't even tell me in private if there's any indication that anything, including the many-hour-long waits on the phone will improve. Ever since that crap with Telia Telkom has not been performing up to standard. I can't even cancel my uncapped account because no-one in the options centre picks up.

Being restricted implies he can't tell ANYONE anything. That's like saying "I'll keep your secret" but then saying "I only told 10 people who told ten other people..."

Again, trying to watch a 720p YouTube video is impossible.
Same experience here.
