Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Again, trying to watch a 720p YouTube video is impossible.

Lol,i cannot even get 240p without buffering on my 4mb line.
Its been really bad over the last few months, but these last weeks have been unusable.
I remember when i had a 384Kb line in 2009.
Browsing was waaay faster compared to now.

Being restricted implies he can't tell ANYONE anything. That's like saying "I'll keep your secret" but then saying "I only told 10 people who told ten other people..."

I've only ever asked two questions, really:

1) Will service improve?
2) Do I need to look elsewhere for my data needs?

He doesn't have to go into detail or explain why things are as they are. I just want simply Yes/No answers to those questions. If he can't even answer those, then things are obviously much worse internally than we've been led to believe.

Seriously, YouTube is buffering at 50kBps on my 4meg line... It's been two months; when will it end?!

I am so over this. its been 4 months now of this rubbish. I dont even use my Telkom account anymore. But somehow they are holding me to my contract otherwise i have to pay R79 pm until end of contract (3 months worth). I feel this is unacceptable.

does gaming get shapped at night on uncapped? I have a 4meg line, and for the last few weeks one, let alone 2, people can hardly play BF4 online due to extreme high ping (300-500ms).

after numerous calls and complaints, telkom says everything is fine on their side. they even gave me a test account to use, it was slightly better - I could play 2 rounds before being kicked for high ping.

also is there a way for me to test the exchange? they say it's fine I reckon it's congested

I'm noticing massive issues at around 9pm, youtube still streaming fine but everything else streams like ass.

Sorry to say this, but LOL at the guys who actually got suckered into long term contracts with TI for the discount :D

I could see this crap coming a mile away. Can't wait to move to Afrihost when I get back from holiday.

Same problem when playing BF4 hey. Its terrible, and half the time my pings show 50ms but I get rubber-banded and cannot do anything for a few sec. Now using afrihost to play and it's perfect.

Yep I regret it now. Luckily i only have 3 months left, but dang. 3 months of this utterly useless service with no feedback/communication whatsoever.

You just need to repay the difference if you cancel - no biggie. It won't have cost you anything. ;)

I've just switched over to my Afrihost Mifi - telkom is crawling. :o

I'm finally free from Telkom Internet. Those guys took their sweet time replying. The lady I spoke to said they've been inundated with cancellations for the last three weeks.

When did you give notice and how did you confirm?

I cancelled on the 3rd of Feb if I recall correctly and they said 30 days from there, but HelloPeter response said my cancellation was confirmed on the 12th when Cancellations phoned me.

I don't want to enter my login details, but would like to know.
If it was cancelled for the 3rd, I'm done, but if the 12th, it will be another payment for them.

I tried to give notice every day since the 28th, but I have not been able to get into the Options department at all - I just sit there, waiting.

So I gave TelkomZA my cell number in a DM when they asked for my contact details, they called me this morning. They tried the same 30 day notice crap and I stopped the lady right there, reminding her that I pay through EFT, not debit order, so they can cancel the account immediately. There was silence for about half a minute while she did the changes while I was on the phone.

If you manage to get into the billing department, you can request to change your payment option to EFT, wait a day or two, call and confirm the changes have been made and then cancel on that same day.

Think you'll find you won't be able to login to TI Tracker if your account is cancelled.

https://secure.telkomsa.net/titracker

... give it a try and let us know what happens.

This and the userstats.adsl.saix.net site is a good way to figure out if it's been cancelled.

If i was canceling due to wanting to go to a different ISP purely for kicks then yes, no biggie. However, the fact that I am cancelling due to not receiving the service i have been paying for, for the past 4 months does justify why I dont want to pay them the difference.

Can anyone tell me what's going on/how to fix? :(
