Changing isp is like changing lanes, it only makes the lane you change to slower than the one you changed from.
 
International is pretty bleak for me tonight. Local speed test gives me full line speed and YouTube is perfect. Streaming 720p no problem on my 4Mb line. Http downloads are borked. Averaging around 40kbps at the most. Pulling a Linux Mint distro from an IS box and I get full line speed.
 
speeds still at the throttled 40 kilobytes per second. tomorow I cancel and pay someone else.
 
Ugh, haven't posted on myBB for so long had to reregister my account.
My Mtn uncapped Lite expired in Feb this year, and after struggling for over a month (Since January) to get an adsl line I finally got up and running on the 19th of March with a 2meg uncapped line with Telkom as the provider.

Since then I am having very similar issues like most of you here. In the mornings it runs fine, some afternoons too. After 5 in the evenings it is useless.

Speedtests show fine, tracert run fine with all the first hops under 8ms, but I can hardly browse anything. Http downloads run at around 10kb/s (5kb/s tonight) and streaming is impossible, the streams don't even load. I cannot even open 60kb jpeg pictures, they just time out around halfway after struggling to load for almost 5 minutes.

Afrihost account no problem. Everything runs fine. It is very clear Telkom are throttling our accounts to death. And it is no use to complain, as long as those Tracerts and Speedtests shows fine, we have no recourse.

From the other threads I see there isn't really another reliable uncapped provider at the moment, but surely anything is better than this ? My MTN account, when throttled to 256k was way faster than the speeds I am getting after 5pm with Telkom.

Edit: Forgot to say, I am on around 55gig of usage this month and that green bar of mine is already very close to the Power User status :-(

And I see on my latest invoice Telkom have signed me up for a contract since December, which is super weird since I've been with them since months before that, got no free router, no discount, and signed or verbally committed to **** all. Wtf.

I was curious as to when Power User status would kick in on the 2meg uncapped product now that Telkom appears to have become a lot stricter on what represents power usage. Thanks for that info "bopman"
 
Tonight even browsing is a battle so throttling is back in full force. Wont even consider trying to download or stream anything when Telkom is like this.:(

I agree... Looks like Telkom is pulling the mweb over our eyes.

When u wanna check ur stats their system is always down.

Even for a 1mb line 90gb is a little. I could do about 160gb on a 1mb line a year ago and not get throttled.

Do you know for a fact that you're throttled?
None of these services beside nzb work on Telkom uncapped at the moment for me.

I haven't even used 30gb this month.

I only notice download throttling on weekday evening around 6-10AM. I don't know if I am being throttled or if it is all users that are being managed or all users over X usage is being managed during this time.

I am on 2Mbps uncapped
 
I have not even been able to use 10Gigs this month on my 4mb uncapped service. When will we ever be able to stream youtube and twitch in the evenings again? Don't even get me started on trying to do any gaming of the sort.
