According to the speedtest, international and local differs by about .4Mbps however I can't for the life of me understand how it would take 1hr to download an HP driver 64MB is size over HTTP!

I tried downloading Via USB 3.0 driver also about 64mb it took over a 1hr. Went at like 8to10kb/s but had that problem with other isp's as we'll.

A lot of hardware vendors still limit the hell out of the speeds you can get from their FTPs. Whenever I format I have to wait ages to get certain drivers because their FTP servers are purposefully slow!

So we can't blame Telkom this time....

My son tried listening to the Disney playlist on iTunes radio on my iPhone last night and it was constant buffering.

I pay 640.

+1
R640 incl VAT - Phone Line, ADSL 4mb, TI ISP 4mb uncapped - all in

Also - received a free router and was told it is month-to-month.
Verified this 3 times with different call center agents - bill does not state any contract or term.

March bill had no discounts applied - so I used the online tool, logged a dispute and 3 days later the adjustment reflected.

BTW - I figure the R50 or so Telkom discount buys me 20GB capped data from Afrihost to get me through the bad TI times - which are unfortunately more frequent recently...

I also Verified this a number of times. Also got a 3G dongle.

YouTube was buffering above 360p for me, and streaming internationally was impossible without it buffering every 10 seconds. I think evenings are just terrible on Telkom. It's been this way for a while now, unfortunately.

It's 3:30 and my HTTP downloads are being throttled.

So being managed isn't just evenings but afternoons now as well.

Is there like a problem with IPC capacity again or something? I know Afrihost is having problems with that.
EDIT: Also, gaming is pretty terrible with this. Rubber-banding and packet loss is really annoying. The ping is also higher than normal because the exchange here probably hasn't been upgraded in ages.

Test account gets the same results.

Why the hell do I pay for a 4Mb Uncapped account if I can't even watch videos on Youtube. I can accept buffering, but for a 2min video not to load at all is ridicolous.
Which unshaped unthrottled business account is value for money?

Telkom shapes heavily during weekday evenings. I can't stream YouTube either. However weekends, mornings and daytime use is always fast.

Either my exchange is congested, or it's definitely shaped.

I usually get full speed on youtube and good latency at night, just P2P that only works between around 12am-6am. Guess I'm lucky?

Youtube also works for me during the evenings but other video streaming sites are unusable because of extreme buffering during that period.

I don't have issues either on my 2Mb/s account. Youtube good for 480-720p, latency ok, browsing & downloads at full speed. Torrents can be slow during the day but some days, like today, I was getting 150-200+ kb/s which is excellent and it did not even have many seeders.

In general I don't have any complaints with the service, there was that one patch earlier in the year were things were crap for a month.

/touches wood :D

Another night with perfect speedtest and ping results, yet http downloads are going at 15kb/s (which is actually faster than usual).
I'm going to cancel this service and get Afrihost capped. It can't be worse than this. Maybe we should organise a telkom hellopeter raid or something.

I'm in Kendrige/Durbanville btw.

My 4Mb has been flying all day. Streaming in HD and http downloads are all working brilliantly. Browsing is snappy as well. Wish it was like this everyday.
