Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Me too. Resetting router doesn't get a new IP. So turn off your router for 5 minutes to not get the same IP again. Worked for me
 
Yeah still terrible speeds for me. Speed tests are still fine, as is Afrihost.
It looks like it's just some seriously ridiculous shaping going on
Any news from Telkom on the issue?

Totally ****ed, can't open google.co.za, nothing, niks, no speedtest.net, no mybroadband.co.za nothing! Afrihost, perfect - faster than Telkom Internet is at 1am.... **** you telkom, sort this **** out!

Right now, Telkom Internet is critically bad!
During the past 4-6 weeks, throttling has clearly been introduced to virtually ALL hours of the day.
It used to be 5-11pm. Not so much any longer.
This morning, I cannot even download a 2mb gmail attachment or stream a local radio station in 64bit, yet speed test reflects full speeds...

Patience running out - will those that cancelled their ISP component from TI please let me know how it goes?
My fear is that they cancel my line and everything else when I ask them to only cancel the data part.
Quite ironic how their incompetence now becomes a retention strategy... TIA
 
I am in the process of downgrading to a 5gb capped option.
That way they don't magically cancel my account.

I waited 30 minutes on the phone to Telkom yesterday, I got through only to run out of airtime fml.
Time to get a Telkom phone.

Probably the safest - is that the soft cap 5GB option @ R 99 p/m ? Or is there something else?
Also, I guess all my existing 'Do' bundle discounts will fall away? Approx R86 p/m.

'Do' packages should be renamed to 'Cannot Do', since there's nothing you can really 'Do' with them.

Got cut off after 25 minutes. Getting fed up now. I used to work in a call centre and we had certain deadlines/ targets. One deadline/ target was related to the call drop ratio which should not go below 85%.

Well I hope Telkom call centre has call drop ratio targets as well because everyone in my office is calling the call centre now and disconnecting the call if on the line for longer than 1 minute :)

And no I'm not doing this because I want to "punish" them, I really really REALLY just want to f'in cancel my account.

When I cancelled at the beginning of February, I made 3 calls.
All of them took in the region of 47 - 63 minutes to answer, with a further 20 - 30 minutes to go through the cancellation process.
I'm not sure if the cancellation rate dropped or increased, but I think you must ready yourself to stay in the cancellation ques for 40 minutes or more.
 
Telkom is now charging me R740, i took the R644 bundle origionaly. I will be cancelling today.

Guys. The holding time for cancellations is at least 1 hour nowadays. So hold on. Remember to call from a landline as its a free call then.

The problem is that I can only call during working hours and I can't afford to be on the line for an hour.

I get home after the call centre closes.
