First time I'm having problems with TI today in weeks. Downloads with multiple download threads fluctuating heavily, streaming is bad, lag spikes in online games.

Bandwidth upgrades were implemented in the past 30 minutes for the Gauteng and Cape Town sites. This may have resulted in some temporary degradation, but hopefully and improved experience for the rest of the evening.

I have been internetless since Monday . The service from Telkom is shocking, definitely moving somewhere else once I can get my line back on.

The adsl is working but I can't connect to the internet, I have subscribe to afrihost yesterday but with their login same result. Today I bought a brand new adsl modem. Same result . I have been through a few port resets without any change . Telkom recons everything is fine on their side.

Here is screen shot of my router status page

Any suggestions ? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1399654507.117493.jpg

The adsl is working

Those stats (SNR, attenuation) are marginally working, and the CRC error count indicates this is resulting in errors. Does the modem lose sync some times?

I would suggest you log a line fault online quoting the stats.

By service, are you referring to the call centre?

Thanks Ranger the call centre agent informed me that my line stats are fine - he said he could them on side as well.

I logged an online line fault two day ago out of desperation - got a SMS immediately after I logged it, up until now not a single call from Telkom.

Thanks for the update. Do these upgrades mean that our overall experience in future will improve or is it just a temporary fix for this evening?

Not to sound like a broken record been holding for a hour gave up. The online reporting SMS says Telkom wil endeavour to fix the line in 6 days time. WTF 6 days . That means I'll be without internet for almost half the month . But I'm paying for an entire month.

Ranger,

The bandwidth upgrades that you mentioned above, are they permanent or temporarily?

Streaming on Twitch just ain't working on my Telkom account at all, tried Mobile, Low and Medium settings (In the Garden Route Area, Western Cape).

Regards

I am not an ADSL specialist, but I believe SNR should be above 10 dB. You may want to provide the ref you received by SMS to TelkomZA.

As far as I know, if the fault is accepted as being Telkom's responsibility to fix (and not e.g. that you don't have filters connected correctly), you should be credited pro rata for both the line and the account in the billing cycle your fault was fixed.

(I was only slightly involved in that project, so I am not 100% sure ....)

We are waiting for final details of another enhancement that should further reduce the impact of a line fault ... but the development is complete.

Edit: Of course, this issues is kind of off-topic for this thread ...

Wr aren't satisfied with the stats for the Cape Town site, and we will probably explore some options early next week (but there may be commercial processes involved to make improvements).

Something changed, i haven't felt pages open this quick since a very long time ago :D

Just to clarify, am talking about international pages too.

Please post the MyBB Int Speedtest?

Also, include a testmy.net 50mb download test.

If they're good, then I can say the faith I have in TI is on the UP!

Please can you translate for the layman?

Does this imply the IPC was upgraded?

If that is the case, why not just say so then?

Thank you for providing an informative complaint. :)

The only thing you missed out on was to provide some tracerts and speedtests from (let's keep that to MyBB speedtest servers, both local and int).

Your SNR looks low, and going on what you say that you are having a crap experience with 2 different ISP's (on different backbones - saix and mtn), that tell's me and everyone with a brain that the problem is with the line/exchange, so don't believe them when they say it isn't so!!!

I see you only have a 2mb line, but are using the ADSL2+ exchange, which supports up to 10mb! I'm bitter, because I've been waiting for ADSL2+ since 2009!

Please, as a suggestion, see if your router supports G.dmt mode in your ADSL settings, and force it to this. I hear this has more tolerance to crappy lines (SNR).

Excuse my language, I'm trying to help, it's just sometimes these forums get the better of me :(

Some feedback.

Got through to Telkom this morning: SNR should be above 10db , Line Attenuation should be below 50db. Thats why they said my line is fine. Tried another port reset and alll is well again.
