Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Twitch has been a little bit jumpy for me but otherwise every other stream has been perfect, maxing out my 4mb! Thanks for once Telkom :)
 
My line has been running pretty solid recently. Browsing, news server downloads and gaming are all great.

I don't really stream so can't comment on that but no problems with youtube.

S4, S3 mini and note 10.1 2014 edition all standard fw and all doing the same updates failed thing last week. Haven't been home this week yet to check.
 
Last night couldn't even stream YouTube at 480p without buffering. And the bar on the usage panel is still non existent. Fail.
 
I downgraded my account to 1gb, got the new bill this morning.
I am now paying more for a 1gb account, 4Mb line than I was for a 4Mb uncapped account.

What a joke.

R119 for 1GB through Telkom, the same amount gets me 20GB + on AH.
That's stupid.
 
Hows that possible if their site says R99 for 5gb Softcap? :sick:

And this is EXACTLY what my issue is with TI... they have too many products! Simplify things and keep the number of products to a minimum to avoid confusion.

They have every option except the ones that might actually be useful... like 6mbps and 8mbps packages... Or business DSL that doesn't cost more than a small business would ever make in a month... I really wish you could enter any number you want between 1mbps and 40mbps for the speed and they'd give it to you. You could save a hell of a lot of money for what you would only really realistically get out out your line.
 
I have no idea what they've done with my account.
I don't even see 1GB packages on Telkom's site so htf have they charged me more than 5GB is worth for 1gb?
 
Does the midnight to 6 AM break from the fair usage include traffic from torrents as well ?

I have used 21 gigs total so far with about 7 gigs being between 0:00 to 6AM which means that about 14 gigs were used during normal times. My graph usage is way too high for 14 gigs though. I am on a 2 Mb line btw.

Thanks for replying, will keep an eye if you still having an issue. What router you use? Our netgear dgn2200 died (2 lightning strikes ouch) and now stuck with a very nice D-Link 2750u non TK branded and handles things well. Passed over 100GBs of internet traffic without any intermittent issues. Now it isn't so high :p.

Nice to pinpoint why you having this issue though.

The normal 1GB product was grandfathered about 4 years ago at R79 (when the R99 product was upgraded from 2GB to 4GB I think), it should be impossible to buy it.

If you log in to tracker, what does it say your product is?

Hmm, uncapped in 3 flavours (home, business, business premium) in 2, 4, 10, 20, 40 Mbps, and capped in 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 etc.

Of course, the double-your-cap promotion is still running on all the current capped products, so the R99 product is 10GB exluding what you do during NightSurfer.

There shouldn't be many more than that that can be ordered, there will be a few more where the product was grandfathered (as such, it needs to be on the billing systems, and I am not sure how they prevent agents from selling it, whether the system won't offer it, or whether by rules agents must apply). Of course, the latter is a recipe for disaster ...

BTW when will the 20Mbps ADSL product be available? (not VDSL)

Which region are you? Our Durban sites IPC links may be a bit heavily utilised at present and will get an upgrade soon.

Other initiatives for the other sites are making progress, but transmission links were very late (first one is 10 days later than planned, was finally completed today, would have taken much longer if we hadn't gone out of our way to help wholesale finish tasks quicker).
