Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

my son ran at a torrent this morning was slow .but piced up later.
SPEEDS are not consistent
Thanks for the feeback Diane. It's quite hard to disagree with this bunch.

For some reason they don't read what Ranger says, that different provinces have different results. I'm trying to determine why mine is so different.

I have supplied Telkom with countless tracerts (I don't know if they do anything with them) and they all seem normal. Some guys here, seem to take pleasure in gloating about their Telkom working whilst we aren't encouraged to give our own feedback.

I think it's time to put him on ignore. Countless times he has been asked for traceroutes, server details etc etc but nothing is ever forthcoming. All forms of help are being declined which makes one wonder if he has a genuine issue or just trolling as most people would jump at the opportunity to get things fixed and working. Just earlier I asked him which torrent he's getting such low speeds with but instead of providing the torrent I get a PM where I'm basically being accused of just itching to defend Telkom blah blah blah. Sigh.
I sent you the torrent name. For some reason you neglect to mention that. How odd!

I can see why u picked that username. Please don't spread your unhappiness.

You're doing a sterling job of that yourself.

No you're not.

There is again a transmission failure between Centurion and Johannesburg around 13h45, affecting half our IPC, half our internet breakout and half our peering capacity in Gauteng.

ETR on the transmission is 20h00.

We are doing everything to mitigate the problem, but that means for exmaple almost no P2P until the links are back up.

There are some issues with distribution of the peering traffic in the event of failures on both the peering and IPC, which we are trying to workaround (permanent fix requires some changes that had been planned for Wednesday), so there may be intermittent problems reaching some peering partners.

You can post a tracert (or WinMTR) here without fear of being "traced or identified". Before sending it, you can edit out anything that refers to you personally. There are some pretty sharp folks on MyBB who can offer you good advice.

I've already slit one wrist this evening, should I do the other??

FFS, where's that dialup modem....

The thread seems to be littered with Telkom fans who don't have the same account, same speed or live in the province but are convinced that their experience is the true one.

As I told you, the team in question has all the data they need and more.

I'm trying to establish why my experience is so different, but the ti team remains silent.

Then why bother to post here? Most of us here are trying to assist you but you stonewall us, which is not really in keeping with the spirit as contained in the Mod_Note in the opening post.

Links restored around 19h31, mitigations reverted, and traffic is returning to normal.

If you mean @TelkomZA, then it isn't a TI problem, as we don't have any tickets open that they have escalated.

Thus, your problems are off-topic in this thread.

It's all been sent through, I can check if you like. I know Telkom is known for just closing things.

It would be nice if you answered specific queries about what we can expect for the service, like what level of shaping is applied as I asked twice.

Most other ISPs seem to do ok. Ive tried at least 3 other accounts and they all normally suck during the day, but then start working nice at around 6pm. I was shocked to find the telkom acct was pretty much reversed of this.

In my experience, before the IPC story, Ti works just as well as my new ISP.
Streamed great, got line speed on NNTP and besides torrents being shaped during the day, it was a pretty much unshaped experience.

I would say if another ISP works for you go for it. It might be a cost a little more but you'll be saved the headache that comes with poorly working internet.

Just my 2c..

I knew you would jump on Draken :D (Small band of Telkom fanbois here :D)

Telkom uncapped wasn't doing this a few months ago, so did exchanges suddenly become congested, or did they limit the bandwidth?

I would like to know if any other ISP's effectively close off P2P until late (it varies from 11:30 - 01:30AM) I don't know of any myself.

Not a fanboi at all, it's just painful to watch you spread your propaganda around like it's the gospel truth when it's all based on drivel coming from Ti Support desks "finest" agent.

I think it's easily believable for an exchange to become congested within a few if enough new people sign from the area sign up within those few weeks.
And anyway I was only making a statement as opposed to blaming his exchange.

I suggest you go find the ISP that doesn't throttle torrents and move to them. I can suggest CW :p

No you lie, I never received the torrent link. Give me permission to to post your PM with the so called torrent link to me. If all else fails the mods are free to scrutinise my PM history!

The only PM you sent me was at 29-09-2014 03:50 PM and it contained no links, just conspiracy theories about me defending TI.

/grants ponder permission

Unfortunately you cant & me posting it would result in me being banned. Fsck this guy needs to be buried as far as I'm concerned.

It's not worth it ponder. I hope he signs up with CW and tries these same tricks in the CW TK thread.
I cant see it being tolerated... :D
