Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Well, mid afternoon and no problems to report... looks like I'll be able to game this weekend:D

Just got port reset again, seems to be okay again. :)
 
Browsing dead slow again, same as last night. Not the ADSL line, my IS account running full speed. Ping, tracert etc working fine. Vanderbijlpark, Far South Gauteng

If you can test for us, please reconnect and PM me your username and an example site or app that isn't working. We have engineers waiting for example users who are having problems to investigate.

Thanks for the feedback. We don't currently have any examples of users still experiencing problems. Everyone who was looking into this will get some rest, but we still have vendor support tickets open if there are issues tomorrow.

We haven't made any further changes today, so although there were problems, we seem to have made progress in addressing an issue that was limiting how we used available capacity.

Worst ISP to ever exist. If you are checking out different ISP solutions for yourself, do not get telkom ISP. It barley reaches advertised speeds and mainly only works after 11pm at night(which is useless for most normal people).

Besides that, random times like right now where you suddenly get 1000ms to everything for the next 5 hours for no reason at all.

Have you tried other ISP's?

Use a product that is suited to your requirements.

If you provide actual details, maybe we can have a look. It doesn't seem like you read the 20 or so posts before your post, where I noted that we are still investigating if there are problems since a change that was made early on Wednesday (intended to allow more p2p at normal times).

Personally, I find my 4Mbps uncapped service works quite well most if the time.

Now I have to assume you are located somewhere in the North of the country. Our Gauteng site suffered failure of half of the IPC capacity from 23h34 until about 03h00, resulting in congestion on the other half from 23h34 until about 01h00 when demand dropped below remaining capacity.

The links in question fail quite regularly (much more regularly than any of our other IPC links), so we are investigating options to avoid or reduce impact.
 
My TI account has been running badly for the past 2 days. Random disconnections and generally slow slow speeds. Using my Afrihost account everything is fine. I am in the Auckland Park area running TI 4mb adsl.
 
Nearly 24hours later and my connection is still worse than a 56k. Not even sure why i give any money to telkom at all, they dont give me the service they advertise hence i dont need to pay them.

Once again this is a warning for anything getting a new ISP anytime soon. Do not go with telkom as an ISP. Ive been using ADSL since the beggining in SA and i can promise you a telkom DSL account is the worst possible thing you can get. They will shape and throttle you till your connection is unusable, even if you dont do one thing on the account. They then tell people to come on these forums and complain so they can go into your account and lower the shaping/throttling and try keep you as a customer.

Dont fall for it, worst isp ive ever dealt with.

There are other isp's in South Africa...Ever thought of trying them out?

I download less than 50gb a month and rest is gaming. If i need a new product because my current one isnt good enough for that simple ****, then telkom ISP should just close down altogether.
