Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Things haven't been good the last week or so, in particular youtube. Switch to Afrihost and everything is fine.

that akward moment when you get an abandoned because you cant reconnect to a CSGO MM game cause your ping is through the roof

last night pings just went belly up was forced to switch to a 1gb free account with another ISP in order to turn my frown upside down

same problem... but its been happening quite a few times now for me... This actually rarely happens. Telkom has always been good to me.

And there goes my TI account again. Pings are ok, but no normal web browsing data works at all.

last night the latency to CPT was at an all time high, 400-550ms towards CPT based TeamSpeak

didnt do a tracert as i was busy getting rekt in an MM

switched to a free 1gb account and ping went to 52ms

I have seen this, and have sent some troubleshooting info to the operations team that I gathered on my affected session.

In my case, disconnecting/reconnecting fixed it (if I got a different IP).

Hi ranger, it seems my TITracker problem is linked to the activation of TIAllAccess on my 10MB uncapped account (thread here http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/764856-Always-on-internet).

Still getting the same error - View attachment 302408

... not a major hassle as userstats is working ok but you might want to investigate.

I did see the same error as you have some time back (only on uncapped with mobile data, capped with mobile data and uncapped without didn't get the same error), but it was fixed a few days later and works fine at the moment (see screenshot).

If you're still seeing the problem, PM me your username.

don't worry same boat here. Insanely high ping as of late. But no one seems to care :/ Gaming isn't a priority for Telkom, funny this is... I play Counter Strike as DGC which is hosted by TELKOM! lol

I had a brief look after someone pasted a traceroute from Durban to MWEB a week or two ago, and couldn't reproduce (from a VM connected in the same place as the incoming IPC links mapped as a consumer uncapped account).

not sure if tracert from JHB to CPT is same, nan0s0ldier where you based?

have to switch to free accounts to play CS and its getting rather annoying

Hi Ponder,

Read you rpost on the 30.09.15 at 9:20am

In your post about doing 200GB on an uncapped 2mb line
- Do you mean mean downloaded 200gb of data on an uncapped 2mb line during peak time being 7am - 12am period?

I noticed that previousy when I was on 2mb uncapped once I hit 100GB+ during peak time 7am - 12am I then got thrrottled?
I am now on a 4mb uncapped Telkom line and was wanting to know what their " soft cap " threshold is for peak time downloads?

any idea?

No, big downloads are scheduled from 00:00-07:00, outside of that it's browsing, youtube, streaming, gaming and smaller downloads. I do anything from 1 to 18GB in a day, it varies.

Nope, sorry.

I have also been having the same problem with all traffic to Cape Town from Durban.

I also want to get off of the Interleave ride. Put us back on fastpath! :D I'm on ADSL2+ connected to a MSAN with perfect line stats. Was getting +-5-7ms latency on the first hops before I got switched over to the different mode.

EDIT: ignore the http:// steam likes to put it in the text for some reason.

Seems like Telkom isn't prioritizing Traffic to Vessel. I'm buffering more than I'm watching videos at 480P on my 10Mb/s Uncapped account. Twitch performance is also not great. Couldn't even stream at medium quality without buffering this weekend.
