Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Aaaarrgggghhhh. They fixed the ADSL line, the line worked yesterday evening, but now my router is stating 'Connecting'. ADSL line is synced (and the stats looks good), but it seems that I can't authenticate with my Telkom ISP login details.

Try that, see if it connects. You won't be able to access any websites besides some of Telkom's, but at least you'll be able to determine whether it's your account or your line that's causing the problem.

It is my account. Thanks. The weird thing is that it stops and starts working randomly. The evening it's fine. The morning dead. Will check again tomorrow.

Wonder if anyone can assist. I have had a problem with my line lately, it's telkom cause. So they called me today after I logged the fault yesterday but I was in a meeting at the time. The number they called from was 021 414 7500. However I can't seem to call them back, anyone know another number except the 10210 number>

Thank you

Wtf, I think I've been throttled. This has only happened twice before and it was a very long time ago.

Funny enough, we throttled too, also at the same amount as yours... talk about a major coincidence! Also internet seems to be having issues across multiple ISP's now. The throttling is unrelated though, that started recently so Telkom can't say they not throttling because thats two of us now at the same amount of gigs being affected. Hmmm....

On the other issue, I find it very scary that SA has lost internet access. Does no one in parliament ever feel the need to question these infrastructure and security questions? Scary.

wtf. Also very selective access that seems to "roam". Changed DNS to get here to post, was previously on google DNS but even this DNS is suffering access. Across multiple ISPs....

Seems the East region is taking strain again. Here's mine using TI auto DNS:

Thanks Mick, yeah, something up this side of the country. Still very bad, sites come and go, mostly no resolving of any addresses or even a hint of a server.

edit: wow managed to actually post this without mybb disappearing!

Watched in realtime as ping rate fell from 1700ms to 20ms.... now hovering back in the 20-100ms range. What the heck is going on on the east coast? International sort of opened back up now, speeds have reset to normal 450k or so (4meg line) from the previous 15k all day.

Is something not uploading on your line like icloud?

No, nothing was going up or down, I also don't like bad weather or any form of clouds ;)

Is Telkom's network gone to crap again? I can't even log in to Origin, not downloading anything but it refuses to load anything from Origin. Backup accounts work fine. Is there some sort of maintenance happening?

Mine also seems to be up to **** however I've been streaming netflix the whole day just fine. Getting routed via some random IPs, 105.224.0.49...

*seems the IPs just aren't showing up with names...

Cant connect to Origin or BF4 servers and other games. Youtube and web browsing works fine, just cant get my game on.

Hi,

Hoping someone can help. Maybe ranger can pull some favors or something?

Last week Saturday our internet went offline 1st October. Telkom adsl & voice line went dead. Came back online later that same afternoon. Ever since it came back on I have had bad latency to local servers.
My normal is +-30ms, and now it is about 130ms.

I obviously logged fault with Telkom who have closed the ticket twice now stating the line is working and service is restored. I was told once by the Telkom representative that she could see there was a balk problem in area but couldn't advise further.

I obviously have tried other accounts etc etc

I have been told the fault has would be escalated after I insisted that there was still a fault, but now I have been waiting....

My area:
Waterfall
KZN

Massive Packet loss to most local gaming servers... No idea what's going on. Can't even figure out what the issue is. Area, ISP or line? :(

Was there a Telkom outage somewhere? Kept on being disconnected, and many reports of the same issue on the various isp threads
