Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

I don't see any difference in performance between TI 10mbs uncapped and their capped accounts on the same line. Doing about 250GB during premium time.
Hmm, I might as well purchase afrihost 50+50 for R100. That way it's the same price but there's redundancy, which is my current setup anyway.

They told me I can't get the 10 meg uncapped special because I'm already on 10 meg. I try explaining that I'm on capped and want to move to uncapped but no luck.

That's another thing, I asked then about 20mbps VDSL but they haven't bothered phoning back after 4 months. Useless is useless, I couldn't be bothered anymore.

@ranger

Are you guys aware that some traffic is routing oddly between Johannesburg and Johannesburg? Example:

Tracing route to 197-80-200-32.jhb.mweb.co.za [197.80.200.32]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms

The issue is not the actual pings, but the route followed to get from Jhb to Jhb.

Compare it to data being sent to 8.8.8.8

To some servers it seems ok, and to other a little odd.

any one take out the R799 uncapped 10Mb Deal?
Seems pretty decent price compared to what i'm paying for a 4Mb uncapped

Just signed up, R799 includes the DSL line, Uncapped Data, and the Analogue Line, so you only paying 26 rand more in total... however the call center said that you won't be able to downgrade to a lower speed line (DSL) for 24 months, if you take a month-2-month it will stay that price after the promotion period... I'd confirm this though and please provide feedback if you can...

I upgraded from a 4mb line as well and was also told that the price will stay the same after promotion on month to month.

What is telkom's time where your your downloads do not count? Is it 12 till 6 or 12 till 7?

They didnt mention anything about that to me.

Currently experiencing high latency and packet loss in the EC to local sites. Strangely international seems fine.

Just went in today to upgrade and got told that the promotion is a misprint!?
Anyone recommend who i should speak to to get this right? Did an upgrade from 2mbps to 4mbps while i was there in the meantime.

I spoke to a rep on the phone yesterday about this deal. The rep was well aware of the deal and was quite responsive to what process I should follow. I was told to email my change of service request with all my details tocfaxes at telkom dot co dot za.
I sent the email in the afternoon and a few hours later I got a confirmation email. I will post an update when/if my service is changed over to this deal

I used the chat an agent function on the telkom website asked all the questions i needed and they confirmed my change, it too a while for an agent to come online but i didnt have to stay on hold for hours and they seem pretty knowledgeable , plus can download the transcript in case.

was done and my line was upgraded the next day.
