Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

This doesn't relate to uncapped specifically but as I am on uncapped ill post it here

Late last week I noticed slow speeds on a 4mb uncapped line and my router was only syncing at 3 something turning. It only got unusable on Sunday so I called telkom at about 5pm and logged a fault.

I was suprised when I tracked the fault to find it was in progress so I checked my router and now syncing at above 4 and speedtest is very near 4mb.

Well done telkom

Hi there can someone post a link to check the monthly usage please i have a link to a saix website and on telkom website it only tells me im a normal user or heavy user thanks in advance

I am glad I will only be throttled for 2 hours :) For some reason, I thought FUP 1 would start at 120GB... looks like 100GB is the limit for a 2Mbps Account.

EDIT: I see I have 8 priority passes... are these for each month or for the entire lifetime of the uncapped account?

It's normally 2 per month (resets to 2 at the start of the new cycle).

If you had FUP1 by mistake on 1 Dec we gave you an extra 6 for this month.

If I was you, I would request a 4Mb account to use with the 2Mb line. Double the threshold.

Don't know if things have changed but they wouldn't give you an uncapped account faster than your line speed in the past, this was a couple of years ago though.

Great work @ranger.
I was reading this throughout the day, and think you did an incredible job here.

Anywoo, I'm still confused on the product myself because proper communication has not been given to us folks.

At present, yes, but this may change within a few months.

If there is anything I wish for you ranger to tell the executives is not to cut the Integrated Mobile Data. I mean we uncapped people only get 1GB of normal usage, 1GB night usage per month. That's really nothing versus how much we use on our ADSL line. The times I've used it is when my line has been faulty (like right this moment it is), or when the electricity is out & I want to go online with my laptop. Taking this product will be horrible.

Yes you do. See the following thread:

I'm unsure if you have to qualify by having a recent fault in your area. Best place to ask would be here:
https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/822381-Telkom-Integrated-Data-Sim

The bad thing is if you do have a fault, the Telkom agents never advise you on this. It should be standard to tell you to get the SIM when an issue arises.

Here's his latest speedtest:

Good day Ranger

I`m looking for advise my router indicating a Red internet light on the on my router. However I can still go on the internet with no problems with full speeds .I called Telkom customer service to reset my port , well this helps that the light goes green but after well it goes back to the red light again. This only started in the beginning of December. Dont know if this has something to do with the DSLM .

Which light?

If you log in to the router, does it provide you with any more useful information?

It`s the internet light that is red , I`m at work at the moment so I cant give full details.
When I switch off the modem off and pull out all plugs out of the modem for 30 min , and switch it back on , the internet light goes green but
later it goes back to the red light .

Is it a D-link?

Your router should have an area where it displays connectivity logs. Those would be helpful for people to assist you with troubleshooting. :)
