on another note Ranger, the telkom VDSL routers sucks, they don't support snmp, I have been going through the telnet interface na d not seeing anything

We have the Pace VDSL router here, and we are also not happy with it (lots of crappy features, like wpad advertising which I don't think you can turn off, which makes it cumbersome to accurately test multiple accounts by bridging the device, because some browsers keep using the on-device proxy, when you want to test a specific account while other users are generating traffic on other accounts on the same line).

We have spoken briefly with the CPE people, and they say that there are really only 3 VDSL modems available from local suppliers, and the other 2 are worse ...

We are tying to see if we can have some input into future requirements used for CPE selection.

But, PE goes via the same site as CT (Bellville). Your 2nd or 3rd hop is 105.226.0.6, isn't it?

3rd hop

There could be one other cause, maybe jeanres has his torrent client forcing encryption, and you don't, in which case you are getting good speeds due to our content acceleration platform, and jeanres isn't because the content acceleration platform can't do it for encrypted bittorrent.

I'm using the "prefer encryption" setting as opposed to "require encryption".

@Ranger. Any idea what's wrong with Willows / Equestria exchange in Pretoria. They say it will only be working again on 24 June because some #@$@# idiot busy with the roadworks cut a cable. Is this true?

I feel bitcomet works like a charm on public torrents. It also has a emule plugin. That and Long Term seeds makes it the best torrent client out there. Not to mention it also a http/ftp download manager too.

Telkom 4Mbps account seems fine on p2p for me now. Maxing my connection on public torrents no problem.
