Noticed the same thing, this is actually better than it was before so I reckon it's a good thing to adjust your download behaviour. Most of my downloads are overnight now & during the day if I download I drop my speeds so I can also do some decent browsing while downloading.

Previously I would have been in the orange by now with red not much later.

Very happy with this package!

Guess I'm very far from abuse..... Most likely the reason I almost have like a unshaped type connection. I'm seeing very little shaping for me. Pretty decent.... Looks like you really need to pull a ton of gigs to get throttled and I think its really enough...

4Mbps uncapped.... Love you Telkom.... :)

Still being throttled into oblivion. Done about 180GB upload and download. 1MB account. :D
 
Telkom Internet is on a continuous quest to improve its products and become the most innovative ISP in South Africa. On 1 September we will enhance our SoftCap offerings with additional value on a promotional basis until 31 March 2014. This does not apply to 1 GB entry level customers
Our SoftCap customers will have free data to social media services as well as night surfer from 00:00 am to 6:00 am. We will, in other words, not deduct any data on these services from customers’ in-bundle data.
Free data services include the following:
• Social Networking (24 hours)
o Facebook
o Twitter
o LinkedIn (IM only)*
o WhatsApp (IM only)*

• Data accessed by clicking links to other websites or services via these social networking services will not qualify as free data, but will count towards customers’ SoftCap limit.
• Once the SoftCap limit is reached, social networking and night surfer services will also be subject to SoftCap,
• Subject to Telkom Internet Terms and Conditions and Telkom Internet Acceptable Use Policy
Please make customers aware of this offer and inform them that:
• It is ideal to schedule software updates and downloads.
• Those on 1 GB packages who want to participate in the promotion can upgrade their package to a 5 GB by dialling 10210.

The way this is worded, "SoftCap customers", indicates it applies to capped accounts.

"Employees can submit their queries to the Telkom internet team" - is this a Telkom internal memo?

This is what Internet Solutions has been doing for a long time now where the star rating isn't affected if one downloads during those hours. As an IS customer, I have to note that the day time performance is sub par compared to what I've been reading about TI.

Only thing that is preventing me from making the switch is that there have been too many ups and downs lately with TI and also, I'm not home during the day.

Come 5pm without fail, things are unshaped again, and this I accept for a "home" account.
