Ye I am not quite sure what the deal here is. So its only free when u use Facebook and other social networking sites. Sounds like a web BBIS but with the low cost of singular capped data( e.g. 1gb Capped Prepaid DSL Account) I almost don't see the point in this. I must be missing something. :confused:

All data used between 00:00 am to 6:00 am will be free."

If this is true then according to my rough calculations, one would be able to pull approx 68GB of data for the month and seeing the data portion works out to about R45 of a do-basic (1mb line) 5GB bundle, then just the 12-6am data would work out to around R0.66/GB!

If this is the case which I find hard to believe (if it sounds too good to be true it often is), then shame on you if you complain about having to top up a bit (although I am not familiar with the top up rates and could influence my opinion) if you watch too much youtube :)

Am I missing something?

All I am saying is they trying to sell/brand "Night Surfer" data as All data and then go put some fine print down. :p

(Here's me hoping they know something we don't and that there is going to be some radical shift in the marketplace sometime soon, otherwise I just see them bleeding money, and if this is their way of attracting new customers to ADSL, they would have an exponentially bigger reaction if TI bosses bitch slap telkom and make them do something about their suffocating line rentals!)

Now cheaper/free line rental would have a much bigger effect and attract much more customers to Telkom, however pigs would fly before we see that. These prices are just going to go up, while they swing stuff like free "social media services" in our faces :wtf:

Hey all.... I just wanna know, im getting horrible speeds on SAB on the saix server, anybody know if anything is up with that, i doubt im being "throttled/managed" ive only done about 160 gigs or so, and my tracking tool bar is only about 1/3rd of the way, when i run a speed test, i get the normal results (on a 2 meg line), but my NZB downloads are just crawling, i only schedule my downloads over night, from about 9pm till 6am, and last night i got a measly 800 megs right through the night, as opposed to the usual 3 - 5 Gigs a night, my speed was going at about 45kbps max.... Not good, at 1st i thought it was just getting there when i started my downloads, and i had only 3 things to download with the total of 2 gigs, and left it, when i checked it out this morning, it only downloaded 800 or so megs...

BTW... Im on a TI Uncapped 2 Meg line....

And you seem to miss the part where they say "free data to social media *as well as* night surfer 00h00 to 06h00.

The conditions you quoted seem to refer to the asterisks on some of the social media sites.

(Just reading from what BigBean quoted, I haven't seen this comms myself since I am on leave and not reading mail)

Telkom Internet has no control over line rental pricing, as it is regulated. If this was a leak about a different ISPs offering, would you have made the same complaint?

Well the asterisks I quoted was under die Night Surfer section and again under the All data used between 00:00 am to 6:00 am will be free section, thus it must be applicable to Night Surfer data and thus it can only be interpreted as not normal Night surfer (Free data) but rather free social media data again. Typical everyday fine print stuff. I guess at this stage its all speculation/interpretation/opinion so we will have to see.

Telkom Internet is not the problem, but rather the regulatory bodies, however, kudos for getting me on that technicality. :P I merely stated and opened a discussion on a point in said offering. I have not complained about anything. Unless you insinuate I am complaining about line rental based on my opinion on the fact that they will never reduce/remove line rental. That is merely my opinion.

ps. I do still love Telkom Internet, thus I signed a contract. I just find this offering a tad strange. Just a question of interest. Are capped accounts still Telkom Internets main subscriber base?

I think you are right :)

I didn't read it properly, all I remember was seeing "night surfer 12-6am free" and then things went a bit hazy :)

A whole bunch of nothing really.
 
Did the Telkom ISP network just go boobs up? Slow as a slug when changing to Afrihost no problems?
