We got to be careful not to confuse the two. While Ti is an awesome ISP, Telkom is still a shoddy infrastructure provider. Sorry to correct you but P2P downloads run at full tilt for me during business hours, the only time my torrents are slow is when there are more leeches than seeders.
I'm sure many others on Ti will agree with me on this point.

Consider me educated regarding P2P performance :)

Also stuck on 4mb G.dmt exchange, thankfully I am blessed with no congestion issues. Always get line speed, and 1ms jitter on ping test (after 5pm).

EDIT: Also aware of them being 2 entities, but TI still has that word in the name, also, if it wasn't for Ranger (and now TelkomZA I think it's called, although don't see much input from him/her/them), who would provide insight when there are issues? That is another reason that's holding me back.

Damn I'm jealous! My exchange is so fukt after 5pm my line was running at 1MB. I had 4MB but I dropped down to 2MB, no use paying so much when I can only get 4MB from 11PM till 3PM the next day.

Ssssshhhhhh, dont tell people about the P2P on Ti, we dont want them coming here and congesting our network :p

BTW: I must admit I had a good chuckle at your post in the OW forum, brave son - very brave LOL. Aren't you with Plugg? Last I looked OW and Plugg are both IS. How is Plugg better than OW then?

Think you'll find TelkomZA is pretty busy in the background as most people PM him/them (Charl in my case - many thanks again).

There is planned maintenance on one of our IPC links used by users in Northern and Eastern regions tonight between 23h00 and 07h00.

However, we have sufficient IPC capacity in the Gauteng site that there should not be customer impact during this maintenance unless another link fails (but the link that has failed the most this year is the one undergoing maintenance).

Yes, I'm with Plugg which is the consumer division of IS.

I would say the difference between the two:

Plugg make me feel special as I have my own name in the username :).
Only need one account with Plugg as it just works.
I prefer Plugg's "Low Contention Bandwidth" star rating setup compared to OW contention ratio.
I can open Gmail during the day :)
 
How are everyone's speeds tonight? Seeing a drop on NNTP and streaming from a russian site (it is GTAV incase you wondering lol).

Anything to report ranger?

Edit: speeds seem a little better, that was the fastest turnaround time or i am going cuckoo :p

I'm thinking about moving to TI 4mb do uncapped premium coming from Mweb, can someone please provide me their experience with regards to:

P2P streaming
Netflix/Youtube/Twitch streaming
Throttling - if throttled how bad is it?
General gaming (LoL/SC2)

I probably use around 150GB-200GB on average with a large chunk being used as stated above including steam downloads. I also use torrents quite a bit when needed but not as much as I stream when i can.

Any feedback would be great, thanks!

Gaming is good for me ~150 - 170 ms ping to UK, 4 meg can do about 400gig + before throttling. You Tube streams fine for me on 1meg (although I force my PC to use telkom (SAIX) youtube server so I can always get max speed). I can't comment on the rest as I rarely use P2P
 
I've been away from home for 2 weeks. Got back on Thursday to find my line running at full speed. I'm now getting 4Mbps all day. Somebody fixed something and un-congested my exchange. Whoohooo
I pray it stays this way.

Not sure about capped.... And yes, it drives me crazy. I cancelled DSTV for a reason. Oddly enough, during these times, downloads seem to work fine, it's just browsing and streaming.
