Hi Guys,

How do you find telkom uncapped with shaping, FPU etc?

Ag asb, mooi asb Ranger. My 4 meg lyn het geskitter soos koei *** ( kompliment in my werld). Maar die afgelope 2 week is so dof so n hond se tjhokie. Ek probeer my beste om my downloads in die rooi te ky maar, manage selgs 150Gig die maand. My P2P downloads is so stadig soos om Piet se 1976 toyota diesel. Probeer n plan maak boet. As jy bloudraad kort, praat met my, ek het baie.

For us KZN people...Google Translated :) (Well a little bit of a fail, but oh well)

Oh please, pretty please Ranger. My 4 meg line shone like cow *** (compliment my werld). But the past two week's so dull as a dog's tjhokie. I tried my best to keep my downloads in the red mange ky but selgs 150Gig the month. My P2P downloads are so slow as to Pete's 1976 Toyota diesel. Try a plan to pay. If you blue wire short, talk to me, I have many.

I'm mostly happy.
Sometimes in the past big Windows updates could have an impact, but I think even that is improving.
There are times that things go a bit south, but it is normally related to network maintenance.
On a 4 Mbps line I have had no problems with the FUP.
If you schedule P2P downloads between 00:00 - 06:00 you will get even more value for money.
I'm in the Eastern Cape and don't have exchange issues and a solid line.

Hi Guys,

I'm also curious about this. I was planning on trying Afrihost but it seems that the shaping there is quite heavy during the day, like download speeds of below 20% of line speed...

hey bud, plz could you give a bit more details. Thx

Like what? I get full speeds 24/7 whether it's html/ftp/torrent etc

I don't download 24/7 though, I schedule from 12-6am mostly as you have less chance of getting trottled that way, there are limits before throtling kicks in.

So here I see downloading is (surprisingly) great, but gaming is having some trouble?

How is there pure isp account sign up procedure? Fairly quick like the rest? Or a slow throbbing pain in the ass (like Mweb which required proof of every known thing imaginable)?

[Edit] Added to that I see you can ONLY order online? The order doesn't seem to ask for any information other than the package either, I'm wondering on how the turn-around on this works?

If you already have a phone line with them then it's painless and done over the phone.

How's youtube for everybody right now?

I was watching Tek Syndicate earlier and everything was peaches, now youtube is slow as hell to the point were I can't even watch a 144p video as it just stops streaming abruptly.

Dono, the AMD stream is down :P But downloads are running below 50% (non torrents)

Same experience . Everything was going smooth early in the evening, post 9, it all went south.

Because there is currently a submarine cable failure affecting SAIX. The affectwd routw is Durban to Amsterdam. From the feedback I got today, it seems it is not actually on EASSy, but EASSy is one of the cables used on that route.

Latest info I got today is that the repair ship is on-site, and pre-work on the connected landing stations on either side of the break has been completed. So, they should have been able to start on actual repair work today.

Unfortunately, due to the business requirement to bill on the Telkom bill, and now the need to align with other IT upgrades that are coming as part of NGN activities, our ISP accounts need to be ordered on the same system that handles telephone line orders. We could previously activate on our side, but no more. So, at present you can't activate outside call centre hours.

I think if you use the online form, you should get a call back next business day.

Ok seems back normal, going harry flatters again! :D

My precious...

Thanks for the info, though I'm left a little confused. Is the form then the best method to apply? Or can an account be setup over the phone immediately during call centre hours? If so could I get this number? Are things usually set up quickly once someone gets that callback in the other scenario?

Do forgive the question overload, but with the weekend approaching I need to sure about thing asap.
