I just spoke to a very helpful lady at 10210, and I explained that I am unable to watch Netflix on my TI account at all and this is the main reason for me having an ADSL account, and therefore I need the account cancelled immediately so that I can move to another ISP. She obliged and my TI account is no more. In short the 30 Days notice story is utter BS and can be gotten out of.

It is utter BS, do note, they will still charge you for it the next month if you cancel this time of the month, but they will credit the money back to you the next month.

Where to go to now? Looks like Afrihost is the best of a bad bunch at the moment...

I moved back to Mweb, just cause I didnt have much problems with them before, and the temp account I used during these issues with Telkom worked perfectly, Afrihost and WebAfrica would be good choices it seems

The thing is, when it worked, it was good. I just wish there'd be some sort of official response so I was able to make an informed decision.

So, according to Telkom, everything should be fine by 5pm this evening. If it isn't, are we being credited? It's been nearly two weeks.

Yes I did

Just curious as I was told the reference number is indicative of a pending cancellation request, which can take up to 30 days, and that only once you had been called back would the reference number (an open ticket) be closed and the cancellation effective.

That's why I called them yesterday and escalated the cancellation so this could be done immediately. Still waiting for this magical call.

I take it you have already managed to get past this hurdle ?

No none of that the lady just confirmed that the account was immediately cancelled and she even gave me the new bill amount after the cancellation.

Up until last Nov 29 (which is when I last closed an account) the account died when the call centre operator hit the cancel button, don't know if the fact that I'm a Pinnacle client has any bearing.

Ok I have a 2meg uncapped and I bought a 1 month uploaded account now.

I am downloading 2 1 gig files concurrently and my speeds are 190 - 215kbps for the 1 file and 34kbps for the other file.

I am also using IDM for my downloads.

I have been watching this thread for a while now. I had 1 and a half weeks of crappy connectivity when the problems first started, but this last week as well as last weekend, my speeds have been consistent with a 4mb account. NNTP has been full line speed, filehost downloads sometimes fluctuate a bit, but normally between 300 - 500kbps depending on the host. I never use torrents so won't comment on that. Browsing is fast too, although I get stuck sometimes whenever google is involved (api's usually). Netflix is no problem at all. Youtube sometimes stops in the middle of watching, but has always done that from time to time. So I am almost convinced the problems faced are specific to a region/s.

Pinging the very first hop(105.224.96.1) in a tracert to a local mweb server:
Reply from 105.224.96.1: bytes=32 time=8ms TTL=255
Reply from 105.224.96.1: bytes=32 time=13ms TTL=255
Reply from 105.224.96.1: bytes=32 time=1192ms TTL=255
Reply from 105.224.96.1: bytes=32 time=41ms TTL=255

I can't do anything with a connection like this.

I wish TI would adapt a shaping policy more like Afrihost's, where real-time services (streaming, browsing, gaming) are never shaped, and P2P services are shaped according to network usage (utilization) instead of time-based.

That way we can have our P2P services running throughout the day and have the automatic shaper adjust speeds when necessary to open up capacity for live services like browsing and streaming for other users.

Currently, om my 2mb I only get about 3-4gb worth of Torrents done during the allowed 00h00 - 06h00 downloading time every evening. And yes, I do use NZB's for most of my content but NZB's simply can't replace torrents for certain content.

At what times of the day? I find it difficult to believe its region when Cpt, Dbn and Jhb etc have all had problems. If i may ask, where are you based?
