Anyone else get this message when trying to check usage on the Telkom tracker. "Thank you for logging onto the Telkom Internet Usage Tracker Tool. You are on an Uncapped product and therefore usage tracking is not applicable to you."

Nope, I've been getting the following all day:

Bad Estimations

I think Telkom just completely underestimated the "thirst" for consuming as much Internet as possible :erm:
I have told people before that it IS infinite :D

Telkom are going to become like Eskom caught between higher prices and diminishing consumers
instead of
Lower prices and increasing consumers

I wonder who works out these policies ? Gwede Mantashe or Blade Nzimande ????

:wtf:

Well because you pay a month in advance you shouldnt have to give much notice...

I am on 1mb uncapped and get the following message from the tracker

"The bandwidth consumption on your uncapped account has reached a stage whereby it is having a negative impact on the general performance of our network. In terms of the Telkom Internet Acceptable Use Policy, your account will be managed in a manner that allows us to optimise network efficiency for all users."

Just logged into titracker and the following was displayed :

"Thank you for logging onto the Telkom Internet Usage Tracker Tool. You are on an Uncapped product and therefore usage tracking is not applicable to you."

Is everyone else's saying the same?

I'm still getting the error message when I try to log in, but it seems that it will be either that message of yours or the one that indicates that you are soft cappped if you were naughty according to Telkom.

Try restart your browser, it worked for me.

Retried this morning after starting pc. When hitting the login button I'm taken to a screen where it tells me to 'Click here to resubmit your details' and when I click that I am just returned to the login screen again. Thus unable to log in.

On a 1Mb line and capped since about a week ago from around 90/100Gb.

Well to be honest if 200Gigs are what I am able to download before being soft capped on my 2mb line I don't really mind. After being soft capped I am still able to browse and play BF3 online so I'm okay with that.

I will have a look at what I'm able to dl for March and decide if I'll continue with TI in the future.

That is if Telkom don't decide to cancel my account due to being a "power user"

Well, if 1Mb users are soft-capped at 100GB, I'm also ok with it... That is 100GB at R199 P/m... Once you are done burning through the 100 GB, you have unlimited bandwidth that is throttled!

My uncapped account has been capped this morning. Good bye TelkomInternet. You are the weakest link.

I actually though yesterday morning if it was possible that Telkom would remove the data usage tracker, because we are all using tat as reference.

Okay, sort of the topic, but is there a free solution to track usage on my network per ip or mac address?
I've got a couple of pc's, laptops and ps3's on the network.

The pc's is not my concern. I've got someone staying on my premises that is using a PS3. I would like to monitor that address specifically if this is not a proper uncapped account. I know he download a lot ito playable demos, watch Youtube, etc.

So basically I must either be able to install it on 1 pc or work through my router, a Telkom version of the Billion 810.

Although, with crappy speeds like this on a 4Mbps line, I don't have worries it seems and I'm not even capped.
:(

Test conducted on 2/26/2013 9:11:34 AM

Download Speed: 192 kbps (24 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 353 kbps (44.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 236 ms

Does anyone know I'm permanently in the bad books now or if it starts fresh every month?

The problem is that things do not just stay at the soft cap. According to the fair use policy:

Customers deemed as power users through the month that are restricted will be returned to full service profile at the beginning of the next calendar month. However, customers flagged with power user status may be deemed to be in breach of clause 2 of this policy, and, as such, Telkom reserves the right to terminate the customer account as a customer of Telkom Internet uncapped products, based on terms outlined in clause 4 of this policy.

So if you do not mend your ways you will be kicked out eventually.

Just love the way they use the word uncapped in the last sentence. So essentially if you go over the cap of the uncapped service you will be kicked out. Thanks for clearing that up Telkom.

According to that post, you will be reset.
