Pretty sure you meant GB, but I agree that's really pushing it :D

BTW: any warnings or are you basing your conclusion on torrent/http speeds?

corrected it. ty.

just noticed my internet wasn't working when i came home. so restarted router. noticed it slow.

restarted pc and router.

still slow.

decided to check speedtest which was normal. so checked titracker and had message.

I only abused it to see where the limit was. very happy with service.

normal browsing and HTTP downloads are fine. using time to update my PC's etc.

Dude its ONLY torrents that are slow and its running at 834 speeds and I can browse while its downloading at 384 speeds.

Titracker works randomly. first time this month it worked than it stopped.

Ok just phoned again and they confirmed that I am on a 2Mb uncapped, got her to tell me what she sees on her screen without telling her what I was loaded for. So now I am sure that this was not a good decision, should have stayed on the Capped account as even when I went over my cap I had the same speeds as to what I have now. I even asked if the Cap limiter was still in place and was told no.

Will have to visit a Telkom store and see what they have on their screens.

Please note guys I'm in Newcastle and I'm pretty sure my exchange is NOT congested which is probable why I get full line speed the entire month except for now of course.

The Afrihost free gig is still running, sign up and check what you're getting with them.

The bandwidth consumption on your uncapped account has reached a stage whereby it is having a negative impact on the general performance of our network. In terms of the Telkom Internet Acceptable Use Policy, your account will be managed in a manner that allows us to optimise network efficiency for all users.

Also:

NB only torrents slowed to 384 speed. Everything else is fine. Steam updates perfectly (local server) etc.

Xbox LIVE works well. Microsoft updates fine. HTTP (depositfiles etc) downloads at full line speed.

Hope what I've posted helps.

Ty Telkom for listening to your clients.

I finally reached the limit and my torrents are throttled. But browsing is running very well. (actually running torrent at 1/4 line speed and still browsing with no problems.)

Total downloaded (2 MB uncapped) - 386GB
Total uploaded - 45 GB

from http://userstats.adsl.saix.net/

Youtube streaming very well.
Have yet to test gaming.(however have afrihost 1 GB per month for that)

Very happy with new setup and don't mind the usage limit and its better than last month (Did go abit overboard this month with HD torrents and HD youtube.

from http://userstats.adsl.saix.net/

Sessions 68
Online Time (Seconds) 2305073
Upload (Bytes) 42 197 320 122
Download (Bytes) 405 036 548 014

but had to run pc almost 24/7 .

I just cant do that next month. I generally only get my latest series episodes and gaming done. Wanted to push the account.

For some reason getting capped while capped users was freeloading felt wrong so wanted to jump ship if it happened again. I Have stuck with Telkom from day 1 and still praise them. They not perfect but which ISP is and they still try to help even when i go overboard with the downloads.

Intriguing.

OK guys, now we need someone to do 200GB on 1Mb and someone else 800GB on 4Mb to see if we can establish the limits.

I'd happily test the 4Mb limit but I can't see me finding 500GB of worthwhile stuff to download before next Monday :D

ROFL - I don't believe it, here we are discussing soft-capping and I get the following email from Telkom:

Soft_Cap.jpg

... still no mention of uncapped accounts.

Next month I should be able to rack up quite a hefty amount of bandwidth on my 4MB, lost 2TB of media due to the external being knocked off it's table.. coupled with the members of my house discovering how cool Netflix is - it's going to be a heavy April.

420GB on my 4Mbps and no softcap so if there is any kind of throttle or cap like limit it must be higher than 420GB cause I'm still at full speed even on torrents during the day.

Telkom Internet is like the best ISP for me right now in terms of uncapped bundle prices and performance. Best out there by a long shot. :)

Geez. I feel unworthy to mention that I'm on an uncapped service.
Still under a 100GB on a 4meg line.

YouTube was CRAP tonight.... Normally I can steam 1080p but had to go 420 tonight

You don't need to do that, PM me your username, and please include a traceroute to a site that you deem slow. (I am still travelling, so I may not necessarily be able to respond before Monday).
