yup its the best uncapped ever. Its like unshaped allmost during the day. You can expect p2p and usenet to perform at full line speed or close to it with no problems. I managed like 350GB this month to test this softcapping but nothing yet and my internet is still awesome..... @ R699 its a bargain.

Thanks for the replies. My adsl line is with Telkom. Thus, I was just wondering if they can just incorporate it into a bundle or if I first goto cancel my adsl line and then get a bundle  :D

You just need both product on the same account to qualify for the discount. I tansfered my line to Telkom and asked for a uncapped account and the bundle is automatically activated for R699 for 4Mbps adsl line and 4Mbps adsl account.

Ranger said its like a recipe [bundle]. You just need all the ingredients [services like adsl line, adsl account, analog line] on your account to qualify for the bundle discounts unless its a contract offering

Well,

After 2 hours on the phone, I gave up with these silly monkeys. They're not even able to provision an account correctly -shrugs- Tomorrow the fight starts to cancel the account and get a refund, ofcourse... That's more than likely going to be an 4 hour phone call...

I have not been soft capped this month and i have abused it to see when i will get throttled. This has been the best uncapped experience i have had even though i cancelled all my telkom services!
The best connection (in my opinion) during day time,I could stream netflix, hulu plus and youtube.
Afrihost, imaginet, plugg, axxess, webafrica or openweb gold just can not compare

Much to my surprise I must agree; I've downloaded 98gigs in the last 7 days on my 4MB uncapped (netflix + torrents + work) and things are going perfectly still; just a pity my line doesnt sync @ 10mbit or I'd be signing up for that.

Surpassed the 200GB I was capped at last month, and no sign of cap on 2MB.

Yesterday I was on the phone with Telkom to upgrade from 1MB to 4MB, they said it will take 7 working days to upgrade my line and my area max out at 4MB. Last night around 9 I noticed my speeds increasing and suddenly I can watch YouTube vidoes without the buffer effect, awesome.

They tend to do that. It seems they tend to err on the negative side, but mostly it is almost an instant fix.

I'm sure you will enjoy!

I think we can assume all is well this month with TI uncapped given how quiet this thread is and the uproar that has just started about axxess:

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/516058-Warning-about-Axxess-Uncapped-36-gigs-is-abuse

... apparently 36GB on axxess 2Mb uncapped is termed as "abuse".
I understood that to be linked to the state of their network at that stage and not linked to the actual GB amount?

I must say though, there are times when I laugh and there are times when I fume ito of all these guys with their" I hate Telscum, hellkom, Telkomsuckbigtime and whatever other names or statements they make to try and "fit" in with the community and making all these wise cracks, just to complain big time a few days later and frantically posting "Which ISP is the best", but missing the quietest thread on the forum ito uncapped.

Some guys absolutely refuse to even consider TI and they are loosing out in my opinion.

No reflection on axxess (I use their capped accounts as a backup), I'm just saying an ISP only needs one "oops" and all hell breaks loose on MyBB :D

Hope I'm not speaking to soon but I must give credit where it's due. I had a 2Mb line installed this past friday and I am speechless.

I have had exactly zero problems so far. I called them wednesday, friday by 16:00 it was done. Literally everybody I dealt with was friendly and helpful, almost to the point of disbelief. That's the call centre people, the telkom direct store people and the technician. After being used to the service of a certain mobile operator that shall remain nameless, I am honestly still in shock. Although I have a sneaking suspicion that I was extremely lucky, judging by some of the comments in this thread.

The service itself has been about as fast as I dared to hope, streaming youtube at the standard quality with almost no buffering. I've been pushing it hard after being internet starved for years, and no sign yet of that soft cap. Though, I guess I'm no where near the type of range that has been mentioned here. So, provided they don't soft cap me in the foreseeable future, I have to say I'm very, very impressed... in antithesis to most of what has been said on this forum.

Who knew?

Glad to hear man.

I had a similar experience when I moved to my current town.
I attributed it to being a small town and things just seem to run better here. We even get home deliveries from SPAR, Chemist, Butchery, etc via bicycle

Almost all my experiences with Telkom have been pleasant so far. Earlier this evening I decided to upgrade my 2Mbps connection to 4Mbps - it's only R100 or so more than I was originally paying. Anyway, the consultant told me it'd take 24-48 working hours before my line was upgraded. Ended the conversation, restarted my modem, and voilà - faster interwebs!

A 4mb and 10mb line are the same price it just depends if your area supports 10mb. Its the bandwidth that costs more. Its still better to have 4mb package on a 10mb line though as you won't max out your line speed.

Thanks to all who contributed to this thread.
Phoned Telkom, moved from Basic to Premium and I can now stream porn, online radio and watch my ice hokey uninterrupted.

Looks like one has to specify when moving from capped to uncapped.
