Telkom Internet Uncapped User Feedback.

Lines are pro-rata and calculated on your billing date (eg: 24th Mar thru 23 Apr - check detailed billing on Telkom invoice for your billing period), your TI uncapped account is calendar month with no pro-rata.

Does this mean that I'm going to pay full price now for 1 day of usage? If that is so I'm going to be very angry because when I asked them they said that it was pro-rata

Sorry Pooky, it looks like you they gave you bad info - see rangers response to your earlier query http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/369314-Telkom-Internet-Uncapped-User-Feedback?p=10224650&viewfull=1#post10224650

... this is why I avoid 10210 if possible and rather deal with Telkom Direct shops.

Oh this is bad. You'd think they would have told me to wait as it's only 2 days but I suppose that's too much to expect from those useless consultants.

Just don't make the future mistake of thinking that when you cancel a TI uncapped account it still works until the end of the month - it dies when they push the cancel button.

Capped accounts might be different as they presumably have to supply you with a finite amount of data (5, 10, 20GB) but I've never checked.

WTF. I asked the women when I signed up and she told me it was pro-rata...

EDIT: Also, my speed tests are getting 2.5Mb/s - which isn't anywhere close to the 10 I am paying for. What are you guys getting with a 10Mb line and account?

Sounds like a line problem of some type, using TI capped or uncapped speedtest.net always reports just over 5Mbps for my 6Mbps line.

First thing I'd check would be your Telkom itemised billing, you should be paying for "DSL Fastest" and "TI Do Uncapped Ultimate".

On a side note, what's the difference between do uncapped advanced and the normal do uncapped?

Initially they wanted to sign me up to the advanced one but it's quite a bit more expensive.

Why is the internet so slow the last three days or so? I don't think it's my exchange? A lot of websites just don't load up or times out.

Also getting the same problem on my connection, using my afrihost free gig now and there are no problems.

Pings are fine, as are yours

The Telkom account has truly gone to **** since they switched to the new IP range. I'm really not impressed. This is almost as bad as when I was solely dependent on Seacom and it broke every second day.

I have the same issue, speedtest.net = 300kbps DL, except on mine hops 5, 6 and 7 are terrible.

Im getting the same result from FNB Connect...

Titracker shows red, and I am maxing out at 50kb/s.

Does that mean they put me on the wrong account?

Could be or you could have reached your limit?

I could not get a very well seeded torrent to dl at more than 5 kB/s today. Browsing was slow as well. Http dl did not go faster than 128kB/s. Will start testing with my other ISP accounts tomorrow.
