Ah roguemat, you may have to wait longer as i phoned to bump up my account and the fellow on the line said the system is currently offline. Hope they sort it out fast.

Maybe it is an area thing Pooky?YouTube is crud today. Please Telkom don't disappoint.
Newlands Capetown or Newlands Johannesburg?Anybody in the newlands area have a word or so to say about their experience?
Hows the overall downloads experience etc on the 4mbos lines?

There is no way you can achieve a download speed of 1.6Mbps as your line only syncs at 1528 Kbps which equates to 1.49Mbps and if you take some network overhead into account you probably looking at something in the region of 1.3Mbps, having said that and based on your current download speed your line seems fine.
If you suppose to be on a 2Mbps account your line should sync at 2048Kbps unless you are too far from your local exchange or you line's copper quality prevents you from syncing any higher. In this case you should log a fault with Telkom.
On a Friday afternoon? Likely story ... I didn't see any notifications for any system being offline.
