Browsing is a bit slow for me.
Youtube is rubbish and normally it is very good for me. At the moment I strugle with 240p.
Speedtests are good.
Pingtest still defaults to Umhlanga and not Cape Town.
Infact, neither CT nor Rosebank shows up. Only Umhlanga and I think maybe Mozambique.

Tests to Umhlanga is good.

Intl (Maidenhead) is rubbish.

Rosebank exchange here and also painfully slow since last night...although speedtest and tracert report OK readings...will have to endure a phone call for a port reset I fear
4mb TI line, although it syncs at 6mb
tried the WA thingy and it also says I am VDSL capable...hmm
Geez Pingtest results are in the toilet -F grade international, and D grade to Umhlanga ...

Browsing, streaming, http Everything sux since yesterday. Nobody knows what the actual problem is? I'm getting between 38kb and 60kb on a 2meg account and line.

Yes it seems they cannot find the time to let their clients know that something might be wrong and that they must be patient.

I have been with Telkom the last 7 years and surprisingly only recently it has come to my attention how sh** their network really is, running trial accounts from other better providers has taught me that it's rediculous how much I'm paying for a service they can't provide yet the end user is suffering.

It is really time to change guys.

And then in 3 months time when you tired of the other ISP's shaping you into the ground, you will be back at Telkom only to realise that the problem is bigger than just a specific ISP. Been there, done that, got the DO t-shirt.

All my tests, speed (incl ping) & traceroute, are good for both local & international but browsing & streaming performance is poor. The most peculiar thing is that torrents are running normally

If speedtest.net is also using the Umhlanga server it is possible that new IP ranges added during Fridays fiasco might have something to do with current performance - what IP block are you currently assigned to? I'm on 105.229.xxx.xxx.

Ok, it's definitely an ISP issue. Tested with my FNB and MWEB accounts, and both are flying at 2mb. Switched back to Telkom, and it's crawling along. Called 10210 and explained all that, and that the speedtest results are normal. They've assigned it to a technician. I'll have to wait and see now.

And you realise the trial accounts are probably not what you'll get when you start paying.

slightly faster than yesterday...but still crap...

although I guess today Ranger would point out that new windows patches were released

Is there any way to get an update from TI regarding potential problems that they may be experiencing on their network?
Something similar to the banner notifications in the Afrihost Client Zone??

Not taking this attitude when trying out the new ISP I'll be going for.

I have MyBroadBand to complain if things go south

You joined this forum this month and now you seem to be convinced that you are going to be better off with a third-party ISP. Take it from someone who has been with Afrihost, OpenWeb and Mweb. There is no greener pastures...

Been apart of this community for ages, decided to make a new account, definitely not new here :)

I am keen to try a new ISP even for a month if its per rata I won't be paying for the full amount anyway
But being with Telkom is driving me to the edge, when it comes to support there literally is none.
