Telkom just broke again in Natal. 358ms to local servers. 0.86mbps on 10mbps account. Stop fiddling with your lines, Telkom :(

Edit: it's not just Telkom, same problem on Mweb and Afrihost.

getting high latency again here with ISP nothing wrong with line.
 
All good in on my side as well. 2MB is maxing out on the download. Streaming is good too.
 
How do you guys know what your total usage is, as Telkom only give the bar graph and no info?
 
Not happy with my 4meg line. Upload okay, but download slow?

Test conducted on 29 July 2013 08:29:57 AM

Download Speed: 1470 kbps (183.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 418 kbps (52.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Latency: 36 ms
 
Just for interest, looked back at my logs this morning, I was capped or throttled on 119Gb on my 1Mbps line this month.

So seems like the limit for a 1Mbps line is around the 115/120GB mark
 
On 215gigs now, my bar is orange and just over half way... 2meg ucapped.

PS, my speeds on SAB are still the same, maxing my line and running like a dream, and my usage has increased since the above post, im now on 220 Gigs now.... and still in the orange, moved maybe an inch now...

far as I know Telkom doesn't Throttle...so that IS a little weird. I'm going to try their "DO 4mb uncapped PREMIUM" starting Sept...apparently they only do shaping ( thats what i have HEARD..dunno if its true ), where as ISP's do "throttling" ( and maybe shaping as well )

The ONLY bit that wories me is what stands in their AUP --->

"Telkom Internet uncapped products are not capped in the
ordinary course. However, Telkom reserves the right to apply restrictions on an uncapped account

if a customer’s behavior is determined to be affecting the user experience
of other customers on Telkom’s network. Such restrictions

may include but are not limited to throttling a customer’s
throughput speeds
to an appropriate proportion of the

actual port speed and / or shaping a customer’s bandwidth
to limit the use of bandwidth intensive protocols and applications. "

Anybody else had problems on their lines from around 10/11 last night?

I have been unable to access any site, local or international, since last night until just now. Emails however seemed to work without problems during this whole time so no idea what went wrong.

Everything seems to be back to normal now.
 
Not weird at all, I have been throttled three times in the past 5 odd months already. Maximum speed currently on this 1Mbps is around the 45kb mark.
...maybe they call uncapped...."A line that can download even at speeds of 1kbps...you can STILL get the data"...lol

PS: i wonder if foreign countries like America has the same issues???
