Why is it up the pole ?

Could it be that I'm using payed DNS servers (unblock-us) and not Telkoms ?

Run a tracert rather, it will give us more information.

I on the other hand am getting excellent speeds in terms of HTTP, and NNTP, however P2P is very slow, in the region of 2 - 10 kbps for most of the day and now.

Also occasionally HTTP file downloads (in Chrome) just stop, due to an unknown network error.

But despite these issues I'm still happy, for now.

It appears to be a congestion issue (or people using internet while running test), thus not ISP related.

How much would a 2mbps bundle cost, R384.25(excl line rental, only ADSL portion)?
And a 2mbps data account with a 4mbps line, price? Do the line discount and bundle discount still apply?
When is the best time to join, the beginning or end of the month.
Do Telkom still bill you double(in advance) when you join?

Thanks

When I first switched over from 2mb to 4mb my first 2 bills were just over R620. Telkom bills you pro rata because you pay in advance. My bills looked like a shamble because they credited me back for the 2mb that I had already paid for. I also signed up for the 25%discount so I have a R90 do bundle discount as well as a further discount of 25%on my ADSL line.

I think I'd you joined now you might get double billed next month tho. But I would just double check that at your nearest Telkom direct store or call 10210.

I can't say what the costs of having a 4mb line n 2mb account will be as I just downgraded the ISP portion to 2mb last Friday. But I'm expecting a bill of around R700ish

Got about 15 tabs opened with large high resolution images, twitch video and various other stuff but loading at a paltry 50KB/s :p on a 10Mbps line.

Anyone experiencing some slow internets today?

Could just be an isolated issue on my end but won't hurt to ask. :)

Default DNS entries and only downloaded about 20GB this month.

To be fair in such a scenario you're also talking about browser bandwidth metering/download queue there and those aren't always efficient enough to use all of a connection's speed. Especially Opera and IE tend to kind of trip over themselves when they have a lot of things to do causing a weird bottleneck choking off almost all of your connection speed.

I agree however, i have not had this issue at all in the past. I also refresh if a tab does not load (also pics from certain hosts are limited).

Will continue to monitor though.

Edit: Got back to the PC now and everything is back to being fast. :)

Sho, I dont often have much happening on my network at this time of day, but Ive just lined up Server 2012 to download from VLSC, for the last 30 odd minutes its been downloading at 8.2Mbps!!!

Nice work TI!

All good on this corner of Durbs
http://www.speedtest.net/result/2954346398.png
My Ti 2MB is blazing this morning :D

WOW!! That is nice speeds you got there on TI 2MB hey! Im loving TI right now hey, scheduling my Downloads nicely this month, im on 17 gigs already, but on TI Tracker, there is not even a bit of a status bar, the bar has not even started.... Somethings def changed!! My Streaming is seamless on 360p, my downloads at around 10pm run at a solid 206 Kbps, no dropping nothing, constant on that speed!

does the userstats work for any of you? because I can't seem to login. My titracker login works
Both work for me, although it takes almost 3 minutes to log in at the stats. Not sure why, because the rest of my account is really running well.

I get this, but when I put my username and password it, it says authentication failedCapture1.JPG

Tit & saix stats are up and down like a whores drawers. Patience.

Thanks Joker, I actually downgraded from 4MB uncapped to 2MB uncapped but kept my line at 4MB. With the 25% discount my 4MB line only costs me R318, which equates to R19 more than what the 2MB line costs (2MB being R299).
When I was on 2MB AIC, I would get 1.7MB on speedtest. Now its between 2.2 and 2.5MB and I have no problem paying R19 extra to get the extra 0.5MB download rate.

In fact this combination of 4MB line and 2MB account works great for me and I found I can stream XBMC 720p content without buffering, youtube doesn't always play too nicely at 720p currently, sometimes it will play without buffering other times not.

Overall I'd put my cock on the block and say Ti is the best uncapped ISP in SA, bar OW Gold Original.

EDIT: I take that back, Ti is the best! Even guys on OW Gold Original are getting shaped on downloads during hours. On Ti I'm yet to feel the shaping...
