I have a 1Mb/s line & do uncapped bundle with Telkom which I get a discount on, I also get a 25% discount on my adsl line, total discount for a 1Mb/s user is R118.03 which is passed as a credit on my account.
 
The discount for 4Mbps is R319. I think it's best to wait till after the speed upgrade before activating the discount. You might want to downgrade your speed and I don't know if you can when you have the contract.

With regards to the 1 year lock in discount with Telkom:

You can not cancel unless Telkom can not provide ADSL eg you move and new location does not support ADSL.
Contract for 1 year.
You CAN upgrade or downgrade at ANY TIME with no penalty and the discount will apply on new package ie 25% on 1 or 2 or 4 meg line.

Hope this clears stuff up. I was one of the first people to sign up.

Currently my 4 meg uncapped costs me R617 (total cost with VAT) per month.

ALSO: currently I get 475 Gb combined from Telkom on 4 meg uncapped before being throttled to 1 meg line speed. Service is great. worth every cent.

Telkom is currently BEST ISP for ADSL in ZA in terms of price vs value.

I was told I can cancel with a R75 penalty. 1Mb line.

Yes thats what I meant... sorry you pay penalty if you cancel. I didnt know it was R75.

Look trust me... Just get Telkom uncapped with discount and enjoy the experience.. You will only have a problem if your DSLAM / exchange has congestion. I'm lucky as I have no congestion.

I was a long time Telkom customer before the new prices and the service is still great just not all you can eat.

If anyone wanta a buffet they should go Neotel or Openweb.

With the free line upgrades rolling out in November, is there any point in keeping my 10mbps uncapped? Should I downgrade to 4mbps so I don't have to pay the full price for the data?

Sorry I'm a bit thick :sly:. Does this mean you get a 25% discount on all three components. ISP, adsl line and voice line.

This would be awesome as I have just cancelled my Mweb account.

Im open to correction however my understanding is that the LINE SPEED is being upgraded not the dsl Data part ie TelkomISP package.

Ah I think you are correct. Thank you for clearing that up :) what happens to the remaining 6mbps worth of line from people with 4mbps at the moment? :confused:

eg I use afrihost free 1 GB and get full line speed ie around 8 MB however my account with telkom is 4meg uncapped and gets limited at 4 meg.

ALSO unofficially currently Telkom does not differentiate 4 and 10 meg line speed as the rental is the same. My line runs around 7/8 meg even though its a paid 4 meg line.
 
Hi, I just got uncapped for R500 special last week for 1mb. I get 0.87mb for browsing but when i download it get to 0.1 mb whether i am using i am using torrents, download manager or downloading from a browser. I mean shapping browser just raise a question why have 1mb for uncapped if you will give me 0.1mb. If i browse normally i get 0.87, this i am talking about downloading at 12 midnight. I have not even used 5 Gig so far, hence it would not even be how much i have used so far

Check you DL app settings - has it been limited?
Check your firewall settings as well.
