currently experiencing surges in internet speed from dead connection to full speed to half speed.... not sure what is going on?

Can anyone with a 10mbps account give me some general feedback on performance? What are browsing/streaming speeds like during the day? And after hours? What are NNTP download speeds like? Does anyone have any experience with streaming Netflix in HD? If so, how do these accounts handle it? Anything else you can think of worth mentioning to someone in the market?

And once again my downloads are running faster than my line speed (4MB) and way above my account speed (2MB)

Again.....JPG

Feeling a little bad, like maybe I'm using up all the interwebs and leaving nothing for Ambroseg1 torrents :p

But on a serious note, this either needs to stop or it best stay like this forever :D

Rule is like this: Do not complain or brag when you get more than what you are supposed to as it merely makes those in charge aware so they can screw it up for you.

Point noted. But I still was hoping Ranger would riddle me this.
I'm not too bothered if they fix it and take it away.
Its just my OCD that wonders how the fudge is it even possible.

I can tell you with certainty that its impossible that if you line is syncing at 4mb that you can download at 645KB/sec

Either you are syncing higher, or that is an inaccurate measurement. I suggest you install Netlimiter to get a true reflection of download speed. I can say from experience, that big software names, even like Steam, overstate the true download speed.

Thanks for feeding my OCD lol. I'm gonna install Netlimiter right now.
I know its impossible for 4MB to feed down at anything over +-420kBps, hence my confusion.

I'm using JDownloader and have always found it to be quite accurate, its only since monday its been like this,
jumping around from 400 up 700kBps.

Maybe they busy with the exchange #FINGERSCROSSED

Wow, I can't believe the sign-up process is still completely manual besides the registration. How long does it usually take before someone responds to an order?

Login to your router and check your sync speed :)

If you on a 4mbps profile (ADSL circuit not ISP) its quite possible that you are actually on a higher speed. 4 mbps and 10 mbps are in the same category, so check your router ;)

TelkomZA has responded to my PM for assistance. Says he suspects the crap torrent download speeds are due to shaping, but will confirm.

If it is confirmed to be shaping, then I may as well cancel with telkom now.

Strange if it is... Mine are going well, to the extent that I limit the DL rate as I have to work using the same line!!

You must have a problem with your torrent client or the torrents you are trying to download as the only shaping I see during business hours and between 00:00 & 06:00 is that imposed by my personal QoS download limits - see graph below:

... MickeyD got in before me :)

Same here, just pulled a YouTube (±40MB) at avg. 415Kbps on a 4Meg line and had [before this] 2 x torrents running which I limited to 100Kbps and that was running right up to the limit for the full ±600MB
