Great :)

I wonder how many of the current issues are DNS related. Back when ranger discussed DNS server problems he recommended the following for CT:

Primary: 196.43.46.190
Secondary: 196 .43.42.190

There were recommendations for Joburg as well but I don't have them, Durban users were having problems then so maybe they can refresh the "hive" memory?

Ummm. I just did another speedtest to double check and this is what the result was: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3145536397
I guess it was a fluke. Wishing...

Ok so I have signed up for intallation and such. The date they gave me was the 10th off Dec. I hope they stick to their word :D

Tracert's are definitely not showing any signs of congestion, so yeah...

This is supposed to be a 4Meg line, im in JHB (West of JHB) Wilropark...

Anybody else getting this?

Connection has gone to the crapper completely now. Netflix buffers every 2 mins. Getting 500 ping in dota. NO congestions as my second hop on tracert is 7ms. SIGH Telkom. And why is none of the representatives giving us feedback? What are u guys hiding?

The solution seems to be .... Afrihost capped backup account.

Works like a charm.

Just watched some Hulu this evening in almost super HD quality on the Apple TV app (>3.2Mbps) on my 10 meg line.

TI has never been able to give me that.

Not a solution but a work around.

Wish Telkom would provide some feedback in this thread as to why this remains an issue.

Ye exactly. I dont know how several people experience the same problem yet they dont provide us with any feedback. I pvt msg TelkomZa and I am told to contact my ISP ;O

Defies logic :wtf:

Somewhere on their network is a HD streaming video kill, frag and suppress switch.

I very much had the same problem after the upgrage TI then changed my port at their dispatch and i get approx 3.57mb speed constant worth the try I had a constant fight ,called everyday logged a new fault everyday till fixed it.

ANNND 2KB/s on SAB \o/, I wouldn't call browsing snappy right now either. Also, Im having to restart my router on a daily basis at the moment.

Ranger

I see you are actively testing solutions to gaming issues in the other thread with traffic recognition etc.

Can we not have the same level of commitment to the streaming video issues please ?

Some consideration and testing with a view to resolving the slow & inconsistent throughput during the evenings would also be appreciated.

Surely feedback and problem resolution does not only apply to online gaming users ?

Perhaps we should start another thread to highlight and contain the posts so they get proper attention.

EDIT: separate thread now open. Let's see what happens:

Also been having stability issues on my line since the upgrade, so I can feel your pain guys, WackyZA, thewusman.

Im on the Rosebank exchange, but can only stably connect at 4 megs due to distance.
However, this past week has been a connectivity nightmare on TI: having to reboot router, Netflix terrible quality streaming, speedtest results looking like a rollercoaster after 6pm.

Have had a techie here at my home trying to get the best best balance between speed/connection rate...looks like I may have to go down to 3 megs just to keep my connection. Not a happy chappie.
I too have to have a backup capped IS account that runs at line speed with excellent results...sigh.

I suspect that due the to speed upgrades and mass ISP jumping for cost/performance reasons ranger & the team are battling to fine tune capacity requirements and the QoS.

Don't be surprised if takes a while (end Jan?) for things to settle down.

So, I'm still unclear - On the 10 meg package, will your ISP speed (Telkom ISP), match your sync speed (as close to ten as can be)?

My Gt6 is arriving late the afternoon / early evening and it has an immediate 1.2GB update.
Shudders of the though trying to update this.
It took me more than 4 hours to dl a 1.6GB game the other day.
Really not looking forward to update this game.

:(

What line Romark?
1.6gb is an hour or so on 4mb.
Lol that is what I did about a month or so back.

I'm on a 4Mbps line and I know PSN servers are not the fastest around, but it took me 4 hours and 21 minutes to download PayFast 2 earlier this week.(1.6GB)
