I suspect that due the to speed upgrades and mass ISP jumping for cost/performance reasons ranger & the team are battling to fine tune capacity requirements and the QoS.

Don't be surprised if takes a while (end Jan?) for things to settle down.

This I'm afraid.

Pity there is no explicit SLA signed between end user and Telkom, can you imagine the tidal wave of breaches and non-performance cases there would be? (shudder).

I'm pretty sure that scenario is likely, but how can Afrihost seemingly have no problems or at the very least have that degree of variance in performance?

From what I see on MyBB recently they're loosing clients ATM due to cost/performance issues, the snowball that MWeb started rolling is having a knock on effect on all ISPs :(
 
I don't have any problems either but I'm not into gaming or streaming TV.

Torrents, http downloads, RDP support, browsing, Youtube & iPlayer are all fine.

You use Youtube and iPlayer?
That is commonly referred to as streaming :D

I've never had a problem with YouTube streaming up to 720P anytime of day. So definitely a QoS and traffic shaping thing going on for some.
 
Okay, downloads are better now, but it prompts me to ask YET AGAIN:

So, I'm still unclear - On the 10 meg package, will your ISP speed (Telkom ISP), match your sync speed (as close to ten as can be)?

Can someone please, for the love of god, answer this?

copacetic i actually dont know what question you're trying to ask? Your line syncs at 8 and you have the 10 Mbps package? Have you tried asking them to resync your line to 10, is it unstable at 10?
