Can someone who has cancelled their TI account please confirm how exactly you did it? As in, what department did you call, etc. And whether (and if so, how) you got past the 30 day notice period?

I need to make a decision before the end of the month, and if the capacity issues (or whatever the hell they're calling it today) aren't sorted I'll have to cancel as well.

Did you commit to a 25% discount with TI?

Trying to get some clarity as to why some people can cancel immediately and others have the 30 day crap forced onto them.

Didn't commit to anything. Or at least, they didn't say anything when I ordered my TI account last year.

It's fine though, I have a really fast speedtest.

Another theory:

TI are chasing the no.1 spot on mybb speedtest 4mb and have opened up the shaping on these kinda sites, like cybersmart  therefore is no longer a true reflection?

Try testmynet 25MB down, I find this place gives a true reflection of single threaded DL's.

Surely that's a peering or international problem?

It does smell like shaping. How is it possible that iTunes streaming works just fine a good deal of the time whereas Netflix doesn't. In fact all iTunes traffic runs at the speed of light for me and I have a US account.

When capacity issues arise, ISP's shape to the ground to maintain the integrity of the network, ie keep contention and by default latency in check.

What's irritating me at the moment, is the shaping of gaming. I play diablo 3, path of exile and eve online. With the shaping, pings for d3 and Poe are never below 650 during the day. The only time it becomes playable at around 200ms is around 11pm through to about 9am.
I have only been back in South Africa for just over a month and our 4mb uncapped bundle internet has only been running for just under 2 weeks. Have tried ringing Telkom and also going to the outlets in Hatfield and Menlyn and it's just been a waste of time.
I think if this is what the service is like all the time, then after the 3 months I have to sit with Telkom, I will jump to something more better.

Well, there's an improvement, I don't know if it's weekend/time related, but PoE is @ 249/280 or so. This is still a bit high, and I'd appreciate some feedback on whether there was a fix, or if this is just a temp happenstance.

I look forward to a response, thanks.

You know what pisses me off most is that even though I cancelled because Telkom is broken I am told I must give 30 days notice... so I waited over 20 days for things to get back to normal, which it still is not and now I have to wait another 30+ days and pay for crap that doesn't work. Telkom is so useless.

You don't have to wait for 30 days if you insist on cancelling immediately. You might have to make a scene and mention CPA a fee times.

Path of Exile is still 700+.

Is there any chance whatsoever of some information about this situation?

For the love of all that is holy, please...

Managed to finish a 10min YouTube video for the first time in three weeks, albeit, only at 360p.

CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+S on PC will let you manually configure the stream quality, and bump it upto whatever your line is happy with.

My streaming seems to be fine. I just wish Nefflix would ramp up and use my full bandwidth. It averages around 100kB/s.
Hulu and Vevo runs at 400kB/s.

Was ok early this morning while the rest of the country was out doing month end shopping. Managed to stream some HD hulu and netflix but now it's back to broken as everyone has come home.

Clearly ruthless shaping to mask a complete lack of sufficient bandwidth.

Disgusting. Refund please. Still waiting for my escalated cancellation confirmation call.

No updates. Just lies, smoke and mirrors. A truly embarrassing organisation scraping the bottom of the barrel.
