Telkom Internet Uncapped User Feedback.

Well in the last week i was able to stream netflix for the first time although it was in the day and in the last three days i was able to play some online gaming although a bit laggy. So def an improvement but not nearly where it should be, i work from home sometimes and normal browsing and VPN to work is not great at all.
I've got 8 IPsec VPN tunnels open 24/7 (IPCop to IPCop) and haven't noticed any problems apart from the Jan 4 weekend when all the other issues started. I'm beginning to think we shipped any East Cape hassles out of province with the "refugees" :)

mickza - i have tried unotelly dns as well as Telkom auto assign with no improvement.
Streaming has been so bad we have just given up.
Gaming still seems ok as my son hasn't mentioned any lag.

I've had shocking service for a while but it's all back to normal now. I'm able to stream hulu very nicely.

Any gamers/Netflix suscribers care to comment?

My streaming was dreadful the entire January on my 4mb Uncapped line. Last week from around Thursday I was FINALLY able to stream something (albeit at the lowest possible res). However, since about Tuesday I haven't been able to stream Hulu, Youtube or Netflix at all, not even on the lowest setting. It buffers for 30 seconds, plays 2 seconds, repeat. I've tried the auto assigned DNS, the Joburg DNS and unotelly, all to no avail. My browsing is terribly slow again as well. I don't game online, so can't really comment on that, however my Xbox's general browsing online has gone to s***.

Getting really REALLY tired of this. If it wasn't such an absolute nightmare to get through to the contact center to cancel I would've done it weeks ago!! (An hour on hold? seriosly??) Been plodding along on average at less than 30% capacity at outrageous pings since beginning of January. I thought they were coming right when things started to clear up (slightly) over the weekend, but now it is even worse than before! Greener pastures are looking mighty tempting right about now...

Pigs are going to fly. Was getting timeouts this morning and the past couple of days now suddenly this afternoon it's stable for the past 25 minutes.
My download manager traffic is a straight line instead of mountains.

This is the most stable it has been in Feb.

Please someone at Telkom tell us what you have done in between this morning and afternoon?

Edit: Spoke too soon downloads just timedout. Well 25 minutes stable is a record for me

F this ****. They are a bunch of useless monkeys. Come 11PM like it has happened every day of the week I am sure it will be back to a crappier stable for 1-5 minutes only.

I think they are oblivious to any issues, as far as TI is concerned everything is A-OK!

Interesting that streaming is still poor, I assumed that browsing had taken a knock after hours due to a change in QoS favouring VOD/gamers (I'm not into either).

Any gamers/Netflix suscribers care to comment?

BTW I wonder how many people experiencing problems are using esoteric DNS settings instead of TI's auto-assigned servers - another thought, I moved to 10MB uncapped from 4MB in December maybe there are less users competing for resources on that profile?

I'm only 750 m form the MSAN at Builders Warehouse in Broadwood and my speed has improved but not what I'd expected from 4 Meg uncapped. I switched on 1 February from 2 Meg Mweb uncapped when I was downloading an average of 150 Gb/m.
Oops, spoke too soon look at this Cape town test

Giving serious thought to kicking them into touch. TelkZA has been very responsive to my PM's but it's so hit and miss.

My Netflix was working fine before 5pm, then suddenly it when downhill again!!! My PS3 still buffering at 25% for the last 10 minutes. I am now really tired of this poor service. On the line now to cancel, cause I was really hoping this will be sorted before the weekend!!! Afrihost already assured me they will activate my account tonight!!!

Here we go again, again:

I have to agree that the worst part is all Telkom ppl are quiet about the issue, and there is an issue.

PM'd TelkomZA, and he says they know there is a problem, and it is receiving attention at the highest levels.
