I have run the tracert a few times and result is exactly the same. The jump in latency occurs on the 3rd hop every time.

To prove my point, when in doubt use afrihost backup account:

That's it.. I'm out.

I have given TI a whirl since January the first, and their lack of communication re this problem is even worse than their service.

Had there been proper communication with an ETA at the very least, I would've hanged around longer.

Now, I ordered my TI account over the phone, received no discount and signed no contracts. Lets hope their cancellation department doesn't do the 30 day notice trick. If they do, how do I get an immediate cancellation?

You can't.
They do the 30 day notice trick.
I called them last of last friday and they told me they will call me back to confirm but nothing.
To try and get a hold of them you have to wait 40min on 10210 to get the cancellation department. Nearly impossible to cancel unless you go to telkom store.

Can't help you with the immediate cancellation, but I cancelled on the 3rd of this month and never got the call back.

I escalated, ask TelkomZA for help and opened Hello Peter complaint. Didn't help. Then went back to TelkomZA ( Twitter) and start sending him every day a reminder that I haven't received my call back for cancellation. He organized a management intervention of some sort and promised I would receive a call today, which I did.

The two things that did came up is that TI have 30 days to contact you and that the day you logged the cancellation call, serves as your 30 day notice. So the process starts that day and not when you are contacted by the cancellation department.

I got cancelled immediately two weeks ago. It took me three calls of 40min before I got through. Luckily I can put them on speaker phone while I'm at work and then continue working. When I got through I told them that I have been without internet for 60 days and I refuse to pay for another 30 days of internet that does not work. I asked them to escalate it immediately which they did and a manager then authorised the cancellation of my account. By the time I got home from work my account was cancelled. Phoned them the next day to confirm the active services on my account and the cancellation was in fact processed. Don't settle for this 30 day crap. They cannot justify customers having to pay for a service that they are not receiving. I have since migrated my line away from Telkom as well just because I do not want to deal with these 40min phone calls. Telkom used to be great. I really don't know what happened!:wtf:

So in theory you could go into a telkom store, hand them a letter saying Thanks, Im cancelling, and in 30 days inform your bank to stop TI debits. I suppose it wont hurt to get the telkom store person to sign the letter and you keep a copy of it as well.

Sigh, I miss when I could boast about being with TI...

And then I had to restart my router, pretty much a 5 times a day occurrence lately, poor PC doesn't know what to do without stable interwebs :(

+1 Don't accept 30 days notice... They will cancel immediately if you insist loudly enough...

This is as honest as it gets.... for sometime there has been barely any if not no reliable feedback on the issue, i am sure they have been prohibited from informing us what the problem is so mum is the word and all the while we bleat they keep quiet... unfortunately ... you cannot win, barely any decent ISP's left, not to be funny then you read... the article where Afrihost want to cut pricing? seriously.. pathetic... take the extra money.. use it to provide a better... service.. imo... its gotten to the point if its cheap it's crap... if you pay that much more you get better .. so ISP's stop bleating take the margin but certainly provide a better service... and people will stay with you its not about price all the time.

One thing Afrihost have going for them (besides the fact that their Business uncapped is fantastic at the moment) is their cancellation policy. Unhappy? Cancel online, in a single click, before the 25th of the month and you're out. No 50 minutes on hold, no bullsh*t 30 day cancellation, or wondering whether or not it's gone through.

You guys see a ray of hope for 1 short time period and start feeling hopeful. have you guys not learnt anything?

If telkom had a 95% SLA for a "good enough service" they'd have broken the contract, 2-3 months of bad internet, that's almost 20% of the year with ****ty service levels.

Its be to long like this with **** internet on TI. Think its time to cancel, cannot continue like this without any sort of updates atleast.
