Is this all telkom throttles you on the 1mb uncapped account. I mean don't they throttle if you abuse the account

I have not heard of anyone being throttled on the TI 1024kbps account yet.

I suspect both of you are suffering from the oft reported CT exchange congestion problems - have you tested with any other ISP accounts?

My torrents are flying and normal browsing is still snappy on my 1mb uncapped here in PE.

its definitley throttled , my dl speeds return to normal , after 6pm +-114kb/s , that said it only seems to be fileshare sites and torrents that are throttled , so i guess its shaping.

Nope......spoke too soon back to 3kb/s!!!!!!!! , this is really annoying i was flying for the first 2months averaging just over 120gigs
now if im lucky il do 30gigs a month

I haven't seen any sign of throttling here in PE since I signed up for the 1mb uncapped mid October but I only use the account after hours and weekends.

Many CT based people have been complaining about slow speeds in the MWeb and other ISP threads and it has been attributed to exchange congestion hence my suggestion to test with a capped account - I recommend axxess lite @ R19 for a gig.

@tkburn: Telkom do not shape traffic, they throttle speed.

I seem to have a problem today as well. But I think it's just there network not shaping or throttling.

@MickeyD , I know that they explicitly state that they only throttle , except that the slowdown does not apply to all types of downloads , I can download from ati.com for instance and i get full speeds always , so i assume its not their network, im specifically referring to fileshare links and torrents , browsing everything else etc is 100%.

I stand to be corrected but my understanding is that throttling is slowing down of the network in its entirety to a certain limited speed and shaping is the prioritising of certain protocols by li;miting their speeds , which is what i am experiencing with the telkom account.
