Looks like he disappeared as soon as the capping of uncapped products appeared.

SO where is the MYBB article about Telkom capping Uncapped accounts?

I received that email, but it says nothing about softcapping uncapped, only that capped users can now stay connected through the new soft cap.

Shaping I took to mean changing your speed based on your usage, not straight out capping you for the month... :/

Also softcapped on my 4Mb account, throttled down to 1Mb

Have been a TI subscriber for a very long time, and have never seen this before on my account and I easily did double what I currently I am.

Looks like there is no more uncapped available in South Africa when they dropped their prices, I would happily have kept paying the higher amount and never got to worry about anything.

I totally agree. Go back to the old system and put the price back up.

Can't stream anything now that I'm soft capped.
No Hulu or Netflix Bleh , currently sitting 324gig for the month

OK, that blows one theory I had. Guess it's time for Ranger to give us the low-down on how the soft capping is being implemented as it's obviously not as simple as 1Mbps=50GB, 2Mbps=100GB etc as Telkom would have metree believe.

Not necessarily. A friend of mine had a [email protected] for ages and he upgraded to a uncapped account and he got soft capped after 140GB on a 4meg line.

I signed up on the 1st feb and have not been soft capped yet.

So the question is, who has been soft capped here that signed up on the 1st or thereafter? Not upgrade, complete new sign up.

Called as well, first 3 times the lady that answered cut me off as the first time she said she doesn't feel like dealing with another abuser calling through to complain.

4th call spoke to a guy to explained that it's a new policy they put in place this month after the move, and he apologized that I didn't get the email they sent out explaining it. Said that it's a whole new ball game with the accounts now and they aren't like they were in the past, those days are gone.

Time to find a new ISP.

Where do one read a copy of this email?

+1. This is just simply unacceptable. I'm getting 40KB/s on http traffic on an account that hasn't even hit softcap yet. On my IS account I'm maxing out my 10Mb line speed. I'm also searching for a new ISP as we speak for the bulk of my bandwidth needs, as this is anything but broadband, let alone uncapped. So much for Telkom going all-out for 20/40Mbps - talk about a pipedream with this sort of regression coming from the same company - how are they ever going to provide 40Mbps when they can barely sustain even 1 Mbps for a single customer ?

Nothing short of pathetic/appalling from an ISP I once chose above all others. Seems like the alleged '2%' of customers who are 'abusers' must be making quite some noise for the call center to be irritated already. So they want to actively and openly screw us? Well let's see how much our '2%' of business is really worth to them once we're all gone. Looking forward to that Mybroadband headline article
