wanted to move my line and data back to telkom at the end of the month, but they just lost me as a customer. i'll rather leave my lines at cybersmart and my data at mweb. been happy that way for quite some time.

Bad start when I swapped over to telkom this month but after about a week and a half every thing stabilized and am very happy with telkom. Keep it up telkom.

@Ranger Hows some insight to whats going on with the uncapped accounts being soft capped???
This doesnt bode well for people looking to switch to TI come 1 March....
Would love to hear a response to this and to JamesD's question as well. I am soft-capped on my 50GB Capped account, was seriously considering 'upgrading' to an uncapped account but fear it will be much of the same.
Also seriously trying to understand why my 50Gb capped account is costing me R200+ more than a 4Mbps uncapped account would. (I'm on a 4Mbps line and exchange, so never get anything close to 3.5Mbps speeds on the capped account).

Strangely looking at what's happening with the uncapped accounts being soft capped whether by intent from Telkom we dont know unless Ranger can confirm this, it just bugs me that Mweb's response to these price cuts from Telkom was nothing spectacular which suprised alot of people, they basically launched a product which was very similar to whats happening to the new Telkom accounts.

My opinion they must have gotten inside info or colluding with telkom, like I said just my observation and opinion.

Im glad I waited before switching back to Telkom from Mweb.
I dodged a bullet.

Hello Openweb.

Can you do about 350GB on the 4Mbps throttled account from mweb? I doubt cause people say the figure is quite lower than that. So looks like Telkom account is still better.

That said even though I don't use that amount of bandwidth and get very decent speeds during the day on p2p and stuff like that its worring to see that accounts are being softcapped cause its never been mentioned. Its almost like roguish things happening in the background that the users can only discover when testing and using the product.

Looks like Webafrica and Openweb vanilla will be the next one to watch for although I know once you hit that 1 star rating speeds during the day is so bad no matter what you use.

EDIT: To be fair too although I feel lied too by Telkom about usage limits I do feel [ON THE 4Mbps account] that after they fixed their issues it is a really nice account. You can expect close to full speed on all things from gaming to p2p to usenet and even irc downloads. Lets not take that away from them.

for all the problems that i am having right now i ain't leaving telkom again.......

i get really good use out of my account with very few hassles....my normal day is downloading nzb's and doing http downloading and playing really heavy games all at the same time which i could never do on any of the other isp's...plus my 2 sons are on line in the evenings one watch's movies etc on line and the other downloads and watch's you tube a lot.......and of course i am on line as well

so even though the product is yuckie at the moment i will wait it through cause it is worth every penny ......

Unless of course the cap is staying, because then you're paying for a capped account, not uncapped

judging by prices for capped accounts R477 total cost for a 200gb 1mb monthly account is insane value for money.

I not doing this debate again, 200gb is a cap, this is an uncapped product. Simple as that. (And its 2mb, not that its relevant)

i meant if they rebranded that as capped. it would be better than that redafrica special accounts.

how long does it take you to hit 200gb on a 2mb line?

Till today, oddly, I was downloading up to 5gb a day of nothing when Telkom was having issues. My newsgroup list didn't change yet it kept downloading at 40-200kbs, and timing out.
