As far as people in chat rooms have been saying, this is not an error, but the way it is set up now.

I can't confirm that it is the truth, but I am experiencing it right now and my account says it is softcapped, even though I am on uncapped 4mpbs.

So is Telkom really soft capping uncapped accounts?
This is the same as MWebs throttled accounts. WTF???

No. I remember ranger saying that there was an issue on titracker that incorrectly showed uncapped users as being softcapped.

Does not matter if the titracker is showing incorrect information, what is the problem is that our bandwidth is being throttled. Which seems to suggest an actual policy change in the Telkom accounts.

My uncapped 2Mbps line is being throttled to 0.28Mbps, just checked the titracker and it says I'm softcapped.

When I phoned 10210 yesterday I was given the run around, eventually I spoke to a guy that checked my line and told me my line was being wrongly throttled.
He told me that since the upgrades all throttling was done away with and that I should be getting full line speed 24/7, he then told me he'd get the technicians to check it out and would get back to me.
I didn't hear back from him, so I phoned this afternoon, this time I was told that my Exchange was extremely congested and that the technicians are still checking my line.

Spent all afternoon on phone with Telkom - they insist that they are NOT softcapping uncapped accounts.

Went around my neighbourhood this evening, knocked on doors looking for TI uncapped subscribers, found five. Two reported poor performance, confirmed with speed test. Got them to log in at https://secure.telkomsa.net/titracker/ - both(like me) show softcapped. Three others get full speed, accounts show 'You are within your data allowance'!

We ARE being softcapped:wtf::(

Also, don't let them spin that thing about the softcapping being a misprint on the website.

I have 4mpbs uncapped accounts that say "you are within your data allowance" and they are running at full speed, and then I have one 4mbps uncapped account that is saying I am softcapped, and it is running at 1mbps exactly.

Ranger - I also have to choose an ISP for next month - can you please find out how much usage the 4mb account will allow before being softcapped? If it is +-300Gb per month it will work for me.

Just over 90gb

I've used more than that on 2MB and still going strong.

Ha ha. i feel your pain.... I think ive pretty much decided to move my line and data to telkom and see how it goes. if throttling is heavy i will keep my line at telkom and buy data from isps month to month until i find one i like.
