Telkom introduces new flat-rated calling plans

hhmmmmmmm...

/me whips out calculator and magnifying glass.

Telkom CLOSER Internet Add-On

Customers who subscribe to any one of the calling plans qualify for an Internet add-on. A rental fee of R150 per month secures 150 local Internet dial-up hours per month during Callmore time.

This, plus no more than an hour per call is not good value, internet users screwed over during daytime hours, forcing them to use overpriced ADSL.

Until I see free unlimited local calls I'll remain unimpressed with these half-arsed efforts. I've got a few (1025) offpeak minutes available on my cellphone.

And excluding internet calls without a surcharge? Pathetic.

“Telkom CLOSER is customer centricity in action. We conducted a thorough analysis of customer needs and preferences prior to conceptualising Telkom CLOSER,” he said.

Yeah, they listened to what people wanted, and then decided not to give them that, but rather some other over-priced cr@p.

Got to ask - what kind of company promotes dialup - in 2006! Is this dinosaur behind the times or no!

Meteorite inbound - wish.

*Yawn*

POTS line and Infinitcall is a better deal than any of these at the moment.

Make it unlimited local calls (anytime) of unlimited length for R300 p.m. and it will start to make sense.

Translation: We are trembling with fear with regards to what the SNO will bring and are trying to alleviate that fear with some half-arsed products.

It is possible to use the CLOSER option for internet calls to your ISP without taking the internet add-on. I have successfully tested this and got the phone bill to prove it (just to see how stupid Telkom really is, he-he-he). But, sorry guys, disclosing this on the forum would be unethical.

Telkom’s spokesperson Lulu Letlape said that the plans proved to be very popular, with more than 20 000 customers already signed up. Most of these customers opted for plan 3.

*cough* BS, lets guess for what political party they voted

Infinity call +/- R 55 pm + R 8 per callmore call

Now they renamed it to R 300pm with 1 hour max call?

So if I read this correctly, if I pay R145 for plan 2, that price includes my R92.28 phone line rental?

And another question, I take it the plan 3's 1000 standard minutes don't carry over to the next month?

Some more of this BS from Beelders-Telkom. Talk as much cr@p as his management. Gives you a service that should be free, local calls and internet, and make you believe they do you a service. How sic can this monopolistic Dinosaur still become, how low will they sink to get your money.

At least he confirms they have to wake up, only it is at telkom speed and attitude and that stinks!

Just when you think telkom couldn't possibly lose anymore brain cells they go and prove us wrong!!!
