Hi there mybb.

My problem started 2 weeks ago (saterday 10 November). First it started with simple my download speed dropping and going down and up. It varied between 70kbps and 130kbps (from the usual 512 that i am suppose to have). On Friday (16th November) my line went completely dead. No sync, upload or download.

I live in the Welgemoed, Bellville area. I was wondering if anyone who lives in this area has been experiencing the same problem. If so, has it been fixed or properly handles? I have called telkom everyday since the problem started. They keep on telling my they will send a note of urgency to their technical department (who the heck am I speaking to then???). At a later stage in this week they told me that a techy has been dispatched... yet nothing has changed.. 4 days later.

I am currently with Webafrica (2mb uncapped). I have informed them of this absolute terrible service, but they have not done much (how much can they do?) to assist me.

Any response will be appreciated :/

I dont know if you also connect to the Bellville North exchange, but I'm having problems as well. After constant fighting with Telkom telling me it's my ISP(I tested it on 3 different ISP accounts) they finally admitted there was "deterioration to the exchange", but they've been unable to give an ETA to when it will be fixed.

Yap... Same story. They say a techy has been dispatched but no ETA on when it will be fixed. Giving me some nonsense of "The severity of the problem determines the ETA" etc etc :/

I think it's more of a case of "The amount of screaming in their ears determines the ETA". No wonder they're sinking.

Making a post here to see if any other people connecting to the Welgemoed exchange in Bellville are experiencing reduced speeds during peak times. Typically 7-9pm.

Tested my 4mbps line on multiple ISPS during that time slot and all performed poorly. The problem usually ends by 9-10pm.

Second question is on upgrading to fibre and if this will bypass the local exchange congestion, but I suspect that it is in fact the availability of Telkom fibre in the neighborhood that is causing the bandwidth problems.

Just very frustrated with my internet connectivity issues. Any advice is welcome.
