Telkom issues with gaming

Got like super bad ping on bf3 this morning and my Crysis 3 ping was also bad. Anyone else as this has happened before, is Telkom having issues of some sort.

Yip earlier Dota 2 EU server ping 500 - 800..

Just checked with my son and he hasn't noticed any issues on BF3.

Even minecraft intl servers went from 200ms to around 600ms. This happened twice before and its really frustrating cos I can't play online.

Okay this is a huge problem cos speedtest.net shows a ping of 20ms and a tracert is all fine but saix.net shows something completely different.

Is this for real? Why is speedtest showing everything is fine but saix(which I think Telkom runs) showing a whole different story?

My sister was also having issues with BF3 last night on a Telkom line. It was lagging quite badly apparently

Yeah man this SA ISP's are downright crappy.

Terrible ... 800ms to 1200ms to overseas gaming servers.
200ms - 300ms to local servers.

Just tested out the minecraft servers and all seems fine, getting a steady 200ms ping to US servers(I think they us)

Damn TELKOM is the biggest ISP but they are having tons of issues. I think Afrihost is the better bet when it comes to ISP's in SA

When playing WoW the past few days and the ping has been erratic, it can be 200 ms the whole day then suddenly goes between 600ms - 1000ms and becomes unplayable so have to change to my Afrihost backup.

Thought it was just me experiencing problems, hope they fix it.

Afrihost is only good for a backup or 3g would not say they better than Telkom.

BF4 seems to be running fine on my side, however was playing natural selection 2 on a local server and ping was averaging at around 300 - 400ms FTP was sitting at 60kbps and speedtest had 600ms and 1.3mbps download to a Saix server in CT... This is on a Telkom 4mb uncapped account.

Anyone tried giving them a call by any chance? I don't have easy access to a landline phone and I'd probably waste a ton of airtime waiting for their call center to eventually answer and for me to try explain what the issue is.

@zyro i would phone but they dont ever help, they will only reset your port.I have terrible experiences with 10210 I should have a technician arriving at my place in the next few days so I'll ask him whats going on. Where are you situated btw?

Sitting in Miramar Port Elizabeth, yourself? I have a friend in despatch that also has problems during the night with his telkom account, he's got a capped account. His MWeb account works without any issues but as soon as he switches over to telkom its back to high ping and slow transfer speeds.

yeah im in Beverly Grove. yup im having the exact same problem, afrihost account is fine, but Telkom acc aint so pretty.. I'll post here whenever he gets here.

Cool, please do! Ping seems fine on my side now, but if the last two nights are anything to go by it will be high again this evening.

Yip they must be having a problem, we arent the only ones. Just wish they would compensate for there down times because its an ongoing problem. R521 pm for this
