Telkom issues with gaming

Yep. Ping to US servers are still above 900ms! Diablo 3...not today, or anytime soon again I think.

Bytheway...this might seem like a dumb question...but these people who switch their accounts from Afrihost and other ISP's, then back to Telkom...why do you have multiple accounts? And if I have a Telkom account (them as my ISP), how easy is it to switch to another? Is it free? :/

Sorry, I'm just curious...cause it seems Afrihost users aren't having high ping...and I want that ._.

3768 ms in WoW crazy high latency
234 ms in WoW with Afrihost a huge difference

Most general latency problems should, as far as we know now, be fixed as of about 17h30. We are still doing more tests and monitoring though, amd feedback would be appreciated.

Some specific games (I know of at least BF4) could still have room for improvement.

Still unable to sign into COD Ghosts with my Telkom account.

Unable to dl anything with Telkom as well.

Would advise people to drop them as an ISP.

No point trying to play competitive CS:GO matches: ping goes from 350ms to 750ms and down again all the time. Local pings go from 15-60. International is so BROKEN...

seemed to be OK when I checked laste last night - hopfully all fixed now.

are any of url having trouble logging into call of duty bo2 and ghosts?

Its as easy as changing your Username and password on your router to jump between ISPs if you have more than 1 account. I have a Afri and TI, more for redundancy than anything.
You can get the 1gig free Afrihost to test with.

Thanks. Yea I figured it out. I got a free gig from Afrihost, used it up on Diablo 3. Now I've purchased another gig for R29, and they gave me another free gig ^_^ latency in the game is about 350, but very playable, unlike Telkoms 900+ latency the past few weeks. Pathetic. I'm talking my parents into changing to Afrihost - they're considering. Cheaper and with better service and less latency issues. Why not change?!

Same here, dota 2 latency is constant 200ms, sometimes it shoots to the 600ms range.

Doesn't matter which ISP I use, tried the following: Afrihost, Telkom, Axxess, @lantic

I play on the South Africa option only.

You cant trust Speedtest.net, all the ISPs seems to favour traffic to that site to fake the speeds.

I had plenty of times where sites where unreachable, but for some odd reason speedtest.net was full speed.

Yes, they can disguise their throttling with methods like that, however, genuine network faults as large scale as this, or physical interference on your line, will be accurately represented on speedtest.net

I recall some info about speedtest not using a static port to test, or having means to detect that, however without a source I myself will doubt that until otherwise proved.

Telkom Internet is not throttling gaming. They are simply throttling all non essential internet services (gaming, psp, torrents) until they have a new Service level agreement (SLA) with Telkom. The solution is either to wait and see if things get better or move to a new ISP.

You are kidding right, you cannot improve something if you do not have the product unless you are saying the problem was solved?

Im actually sick n tired of being kicked by people online because i lag or my ping jumps from 280 - 1000 and back. i cant shoot anything or kill anything. i lag the entire match and then get demoted. Im just over it. I mean my friends in sweden have a minimum line speed in their country of 100mb.

im not asking for that but atleast with the crappy speed lines we do have can they atleast work properly :-(

I was playing local CS:GO last night. Ping jumped from 20ms to 300 and down again. Switched to Afrihost again, and steady as you like
