Telkom launches LTE double-data promotion

So I finally managed to cancel my Telkom LTE month to month contact.... Got home today all eager to buy a voucher via ussd and the SIM is completely dead. Doesn't connect to network so no ussd or onnet.telkom. I guess tomo I will need to go buy a new Telkom sim.... What do I need to buy a SIM again? Proof of address only?

Hi guys. I’ve got a prepaid Telkom SIM which I use for my daily phone. Some calls and some WhatsApp and surfing.

Is it possible to swap my calling plan from Telkom More to the Smartbroadband to take advantage of the double data deal??

Yup, that's exactly what I did and it worked. Only problem is speeds have started to go to utter shyte starting around midnight and going back to normal at 7 AM. So the night time data is essentially worthless at the moment.

quite strange that they allowing that... I didn't think that someone would respond with your answer! :wtf:

Have you tried to change back to Telkom More plan?

Nope once you change you can't change it back (That I know of anyways).

Just to clarify, the tariff change has nothing to do with the slow midnight speeds. That started beforehand. There's a thread about it in the Telkom section so I guess I'm not the only one.

hmmm I wonder what the implications are of not being able to change back...
