Telkom launches LTE double-data promotion

Update

Telkom stated that should a subscriber sign up for a package, they will receive double data for the 24 months of their contract.

“The promotion will last until January 2018,” said Telkom.
 
Awesome, been waiting for this. I reckon the prices will become permanent in January anyway as the competition is heating up.
 
Has anyone managed to apply the new pricing to their existing month to month deal on their app or website? Is the only way to do this with a phone call to their piss poor call center ? Chances are they won't know what deals we are talking about.

Yes Any prepaid simcard from Telkom you need to change the tariff plan to Smartbroadband Wireless and when you do so that sim is NOT ideal for using in a phone but you can it's just call rates are expensive and you can not buy all networks bundles then so no roaming.

So on an extra simcard change the price plan and buy the data with airtime or card. Very nice option totally prepaid and you pay 31 days no pro rata and counted 31 days from day of activation.

Thanks. I went into Telkom today and canned my month to month setup. There is a 30 day notice, so it will only be finished end of next month...
 
The call centre agent told me the only way to get the promotion is to cancel my current 100gb account and sign up for a new one. Not to impressed :(
 
Now I know why people hate contracts so much. I signed up for one because it was the cheapest way to get both data and a router, one of the monthly deals was the same contract but a third cheaper, now people signing up for the same contract will get twice the data. I don't even know how to feel :erm:

Its time you start sweating your network a little and let the cash roll in.

1.Make this double data permanent.
2.Ensure it works seamless on prepaid.
3.Make the Data valid for 90 days.
4.Market it well - TV - Social Media - Papers
5.Roll out more towers where demand is great.
6.Throw in free calls Telkom 2 Telkom

Then

1. Sit back and start collecting the Cash.
2. Improve customer service at your stores.
3. Improve the network as demand grows.
4. Have specials for every 500 000 customer free Internet for life 500 Gigabytes per month - Market it very well.

I will give you R700 per month if the above is in order.

1 Million other customers will also do the same. Thats a Billion a Month :)

Just saw this now. If I knew I would have bought a 10GB+10GB bundle for the rest of the month. Instead I purchased their 2GB for R139. :o
 
Got a SIM from PEP stores. Working fine , loaded 40gig anytime and 500gb nighttime. Let's see how it goes :-)
 
Madness. This deal is apparently online only, so they turned me away after queuing for 30m in my local store (as I know how useless the call centres are).

I did the online application, but there is a problem with their outbound dialer causing to drop the call each time they try to phone my Telkom Mobile cell.

In typical Telkom fashion I've wasted hours trying to get through to the sales department in their endless loops of escalations, and all I get them from them is a snarky automated email saying 'we couldn't get hold of you, please apply again'.

A terrible waste of time and energy...

Hi Could you give me the steps In activating this from a Sim card bought from a shop

USSD Code to dial the options to select etc.

I dailed *180# and selected tariff change to Smartbroadband.
