Telkom Line Speed doubling?

I dunno, I don't sit in on the meetings... but my guess is that it was due to so many of the exchanges giving problems with the interface upgrades and so many of them having problems with very old copper.

Some of the exchanges HAVE ALREADY been completed though and I hope some of those people will become part of the trial soon.

I would probably go ahead and upgrade now so that you get bumped up for free later. At least that is my thinking on it.
 
so then would it be better to upgrade to 4mb/s line? is it consistent and is it worth the upgrade now?
 
Still going no where slowly at 48KB/s.. sometimes its worse! I think telscum brains are all linked to telscommel cloud at 28.8bps and all sharing the same line. So decisions tend to take its time with packet loss along the way..
 
i know the answer but forgotten what the telkom techy told me yesterday lol

and btw he said they started testing phase in gauteng already for 6 - 8 mbits
 
Iv mentioned this before but my brother who lives near the benmore exchange is on the 8mbit trial.

I understand, but why cant they upgrade everyone's lines so long, and just charge the 4MB people less, then if they later want to upgrade to 8MB, let them.

Also is it just the trial that was postponed or the actual speed upgrades that will apply to everyone? In other words, we they just test in March, or will we get upgraded in March?

Stuff you telkom! I saw a lady who has 512kbps adsl and fastest speed I got was 25KB/second down.. lekker!
 
I have found another case of 8Mb/s speed. Was at my friend's house and we noticed his downloads going at like 790KB/s. Must mean that it's imminent! :p
 
lol they are testing atm in gauteng it hasnt been canceled or moved

how many times do i need to repeat this in the forum

the thing which is coming next year is actually upgrades

sources: techy called sipho forgot other techies name who is main techy person who fixes and replaces fibre optic cabling

also he said hes going to get adsl 2+ tested at his house :P

Yes, something will be happening. I have Telkom 3G (for travels and home) and ADSL 384 @home and I will not be upgrading my ADSL bundle just yet. Better bang for buck is "imminent"!

The word "imminent" is too vague , broad, loose. :D:D

They still need to have working 10mb connections long before June, think its time for telkom to do entire country trial... At once, that will give them the opportunity to get it stress tested. This selective close trial is for one, not working cause its going on for ages and few people are reaping the benifits.

Secondly, we had 4mb lines for more than 3 years now, with no upgrade... Its sad times, (sorry i can't really remember when they introduced the 4mb lines) we need to get with the times. Seacom came added bandwith to the country, but the internal network is still not able to cope with what is needed.
 
Okay, so its now April 2010. still no upgrades, when it was expected by march? lets hope telkom can sort it out before FIFA kicks off..
