Hi all

I currently have a 4meg line installed... however, i'll be moving premises in the next month or so, & was wondering if telkom can transfer my existing, adsl enabled line, to my new premises?..?

I really dont want to cancel my line & re-apply

Is this possible & what are the costs invlolved?

Advise appreciated...

you mean by transfer, keep your existing telephone numbers? if so only if you are connecting to the same exchange in the same subburb. For me it was a nightmare it took them 49 day to do it after the 1 month notice i gave them(and that was just internet) took another week and a half to get my phones up. It was a business number so i could not afford to loose it, in my opinion if you dont need the number cancel and reapply.

It can be done! but i also had to wait, but my wait was ridiculous, 7 months! no explanation from telkom after harrasing them everyday! but hey, finally got it at least!

I did it beginning of this month, arranged it two weeks beforehand (made a booking for the technician to come out). There was an issue that delayed the process by a week, but after than it was transferred.

Its possible yes, if the new area supports it. In my case however they made a screw up and first told me the transfer is not possible because its not on the same area code 012 665 xxxx. I then told them to cancel it so that I can use the cancel reference on my new application. I then discovered that it was on the same area code and that their address on the system is off by about 20km. So I had them fix that, and asked them to move the line. They moved the line, and everything was peachy. The next day they came out and processed the cancel request at the new premises. I then had them reconnect it, at which time they reconnected the phone line only. I enquired about the ADSL and was told that I had never had ADSL, and that I should apply for ADSL. Eventually everything is peachy, took about a month and several trips and emails to the Telkom office.

I had huge problems transferring my line. Do not try and do it with a phone call, rather go to a telkom direct shop and speak to a "real" person.
Follow this up with the same "real" person. After two weeks of frustrating phone calls this solved my problem within a day.
