Hi all, new user.
I live in an area where my telkom landline can only support max of 2mbps adsl.
How should I go about starting the process to have this line possibly upgraded or hopefully having fibre installed (we do not have fibre coverage in my area).

Or any other possible solution for having uncapped wifi at minimum of of 8mbps.

Data junkie here.

Spoke to telkom , unfortunately we will have to wait until they upgrade our lines and who knows when that will be, any other reliable solutions?

Hersc, it is difficult to give advice without knowing where you are. Suburb-level detail for a start. Most wireless solutions are coverage-limited.

Living in springs I got overly excited when I saw two OpenServe vans parked outside working on new cables about two weeks ago. Just came back from a meeting and once again saw two OpenServe trucks in town working on lines.

I hope to hell it is fibre that they are working on but somehow I think not. Do OpenServe work on fibre exclusively?

No, Telkom infrastructure, copper and fibre is the responsibility of OpenServe.

So they could simply be doing repair work on the existing copper infrastructure.

I live in Montana, Cape Town.
The search continues for uncapped wireless internet.

They have recently upgraded exchange to 20MB, we are a business so assume we have business adsl line whatever that is, I assume we get preferential treatment?

Would i just go through the normal channels to request an upgrade?

So apparently my area supports 20mb! But how do I go about upgrading from 4mb to 10mb?
